so, we're alone again
i wish it were over, we seem to never end,
only get closer, to the point where i can take no more,
the clouds in your eyes, down your face they pour,
wont't you be the new one burn to shine,
i take the blue ones every time, walk me down your broken line,
all you have to do is cry
yes, all you have to do is cry

hush my baby now,
your talking is just noise and won't lay me down
amongst your toys in a room where i can take no more,
the clouds in your eyes, down your face they pour,
won’t you be the new one burn to shine,
i take the blue ones every time,
walk me down your broken line,
all you have to do is cry,

photographs and brightly colored paper,
are your mask you wear in this caper, that is our life,
we walk right into the strife,
and a tear from your eye brings me home,

won’t you be the new one burn to shine,
i take the blue ones every time,
walk me down your broken line,
all you have to do is cry,

General Comment:Well, my explanation is based on my experience (what a surprise:) ). I think it's about relationship with someone- not necessarily a girlfriend- who has some kind of block and can't express their feelings correctly or how they should.
    ---Photographs and brightly colored paper
Are your masks you wear in this caper---
They know it both and he is the only person who can unmask her/him?, even if it's just for a moment. And he is glad for it and he wishes for more moments like this
---all you have to do is cry---
but they are rare, so he is there, waiting, helping, being there.

General Comment:Did anyone see the Matrix reference?

"I take the blue ones every time"

    From wikipedia:

"The blue pill will cause him to "wake up in his bed and believe whatever [he wants] to believe."

It's clear to me, that the protagonist just wants to wake up, believing everything's fine.

My Interpretation:I think this is about a girl who is in a bad relationship and sees him as the "shoulder to cry on". For some reason though, he finds himself attracted to that type of woman- "I pick the blue ones every time"-means he falls for women who need to be put back together. He cant stand to be around them because he realizes that they are only using him to put them back together, and as soon as they are done crying they go back to the bad relationship.

General Comment:I love this song so much. Joshua Radin is an amazing artist.

Scrubs definately choose the best songs to express how a character is feeling perfectly. It's a shame some of the artists they use aren't as well known as they should be.

General Comment:And here's me thinking it was about his newborn child that he finds stressful to take care of, but loves him/her nonetheless. For example...

'A tear from your eye brings me home' as in, if they end up hurt or in trouble, he'll be home to sort them out.

'Amongst your toys in a room where I can take no more' speaks for itself. Babies have toys. I'm assuming it meant trying to put the kid to sleep. Stressful task.

'I wish it were over' means that he's finding it stressing and wants it to be over. Nothing else to it.

'I take the blue ones every time' means he'd gladly take the blue lollipop if the kid didnt want it? I don't really know.

'Walk me down your broken line' in reference to relatives perhaps, talking about a family line. As in a broken, seperated family line. Maybe the mother has left?

'All you have to do is cry' as in 'all you can do is cry', not 'if you need me, cry'. Babies cry a lot, it's like saying that all they seem to do is cry.

'Photographs and brightly coloured paper' you remember sticking things together and playing with coloured paper as a kid? I do.

'Be the new one burn to shine' New one as in 'new baby', shine possibly being to do well in life, not sure about the burn.

That's what I thought to begin with, but apparently not.

General Comment:I agree with shrodes. It's all about the Hedgehog Dilemma--the closer you get to someone, the more they can hurt you. Intimacy isn't possible without pain. That basically sums this song up. He wants to love her, but doesn't want to get hurt.

    Lyric Correction:So, we're alone again.
    I wish it were over;
    We seem to never end,
Only get closer to the point
Where I can take no more.

    The clouds in your eyes
    Down your face they fall.

    [Chorus]
Won't you be the new one bound to shine?
I'll take the blue ones everytime.
    Walk me down your broken line;
All you have to do is cry.
Yes, all you have to do is cry.

    Hush, my baby, now.
    Your talking is just noise
    And won't lay me down
Amongst your toys in your room
Where I can't take no more.

    The clouds in your eyes
    Down your face they pour.

    [Chorus]

    Photographs and brightly colored paper
Are your masks you wear in this caper.
That is our life: we walk right into the strife,
And a tear from your eye brings me home.

Won't you be the new one bound to shine?
I'll take the blue ones everytime.
    Walk me down your broken line;
All you have to do is cry.
