Lyrics for Almost Forgot Myself as interpreted by Joekubrick

Almost Forgot Myself Lyrics
So close...
You're wasted again
I know, somehow...
I lost myself...again

Making me high again
I almost forgot myself again
It hits me so hard
It kills me again
Today

So close
Yet you're wasted again
I know, somehow...
We'll find ourselves...
I don't know, I don't know

Then we'll be high again
I almost forgot myself there
It hits you so hard
And kills again

I almost forgot myself again
I almost forgot myself there
It's hitting me hard
It moves me again
Again...

I like the little "ding" cymbal noise in the song. It sounds like a timer went off - like a timer on a stove. To me it means "ding" - he's fully "baked" (i.e. stoned) and feeling good. The lyrics read like he hasn't been stoned in a long time because he quit some time ago, but just fell off the wagon and got stoned again. However, he sounds unsure that this was the right thing to do.

yeah i would definatly say this is about drugs.."You're wasted again"
"It hits me so hard
It kills me again "......all points in the way of drugs..... could be wrong though i spose.

Funny, Elbow and Doves: uncanny resemblances
Well, apart from the fact that they're both from Manchester, and it took them both 15 years or something to make big, they also have
1. Forget Myself and Almost Forget Myself
2. Satellite Towns mentioned in Black and White Town and Forget Myself (never heard them mentioned anywhere else.)
I mean, how can you not love them both?

It may be about drugs and how they make you lose yourself - or maybe about an affair.
Whatever, i love this song!

i dunno, for me this song is definitely about matters of the heart. about trying to supress feelings you might have for someone.
in the third and fourth verses its like he lets himself go for a moment, allows himself a glimmer of hope that there's a chance of happiness with this other person
"I know, somehow...
We'll find ourselves...
I don't know, I don't know" (denying it)

"Then we'll be high again
I almost forgot myself there" (pushing it back down)

but i think also he knows that the other person feels the same towards him -
"It hits you so hard
And kills again"

on a personal note, for me this song sums up a situation i had a while ago, fianlly finding a great boyfriend, but then finding out that another fling actually liked me too. its about trying to ignore feelings towards the other guy

could really be falling back into old habits or routines, be it drugs or relationships or whatever. its about relapsing into the old ways and how he can see it happening right in front of him.

for some reason it reminds me of Rear View Mirror by Grandaddy. although the songs dont sound alike at all...

It is about someone who falls back into their drug addiction, but then realises that they don't need drugs to get high and feels guilty for all the hard work they put into staying clean.
