Lyrics for Doggy as interpreted by horsehead

Doggy Lyrics
Dog of height in the trees
Won't you come down doggy
Such a sweet doggy
I brought you your dinner
My doggy i miss you kissing from my
I remember when i first got you doggy

But you lay there so still doggy
You lay there
So still

Dog who fell to the ground
Twisted your neck doggy
Don't look right doggy
The bet came with sutures
He said Dave
Hay the doctor cannot save you dog

But I remember when I first got you dog

You lay there so still dog
You lay there so still

Dog of depth in the dirt
They buried you deep doggy
You’re the best doggy
My friend has a doggy
She's real nice dog
I wish you could chase her round my yard

I remember when I first got you dog

But you lay there so still doggy
You lay there so still

this song makes me sad.

it comes from a very child-like viewpoint, and its just really a bummer. really good song, great lyrics.

This song is amazing. The meaning is obvious, and you can almost hear the childhood innocence in the singer's voice.

How unbearably sad. When I hear this song, I picture an out-of-focus sunset in autumn.

I listened to this song all summer
in the car on the way home from the dog park
(there were tangled trails in the back woods
we explored them and got lost)
my dog in the front seat facing sunset
panting in my ear, her fur twirling and whirling out the window
that's this song, well the memory

When I first saw the lyrics to this song while listening to it, I cried for about an hour. It always breaks my heart when an animal dies, because they're just so loving and honest. I know that my dogs, too, will die someday and it just pierces me deep inside.
The lyrics of this song are especially saddening because you can see the process of the dog's end. First there's something wrong with him and the singer doesn't know what to do, he tries everything, thinking the dog can "come down" from whatever the matter is, but then the dog suddenly takes a fall and plunges into an irreversible dilemma. The singer is left helpless and is forced to cope with his friend's unfortunate end. Every pet owner knows that someday this will happen, but it's still a shock when it does. Afterward, all that is left are memories, and all you can do is grieve.

I'm pretty sure it says:

The VET came with sutures
He said Dave
The doctor cannot save YOUR dog

Oh, and I love this song. Conours up very bittersweet images of childhood and loss of innocence. But i feel that many people overlook the fact that it may not actually be about a literal dog; To me this seems rater unlikely. To me it's a song about loss of innocence, the dog as a metaphor for this. At least that's how ihave interpreted it.

I'm pretty sure the fifth line is
"My doggy I miss you chasing for my ball"

Yeah, to me it's more creepy and chilling than sad. Not to say that it isn't very very sad. cause it is. But reading the lyrics gives off such an eerie mood.

We had to put my dog down two weeks ago, so I can't listen to this song anymore. It use to be one of my favorites, now I break down like you wouldn't believe. It just came on my playlist, and I lost it. Fuck.

I think the greatest thing about this song is that Dave never actually had a dog and he still has the power to write such compelling lyrics just as if he had.
