Well you're just seventeen - all you wanna do is disappear
You know what I mean there's a lot of space
Between your ears
The way that you touch don't feel nu nu nothin'
Hey hey hey hey, it was the D.N.A.
Hey hey hey hey, that made me this way
Do you know, do you know, do you know, just how I feel ?
Do you know, do you know, do you know, just how I feel ?

Sheer heart attack
Sheer heart attack
Real cardiac

I feel so inar, inar, inar, inar, inar, inar, inar, inar - ticulate

Gotta feelin', gotta feelin', gotta feelin', like a paralyse
It ain't no, it ain't no, it ain't no, it ain't no surprise
Turn on the T.V. let it drip right down in your eyes
Hey hey hey hey, it was the D.N.A.
Hey hey hey hey hey, that made me this way
Do you know, do you know, do you know, just how I feel ?
Do you know, do you know, do you know, just how I feel ?

Sheer heart attack
Sheer heart attack
Real cardiac

I feel so inar, inar, inar, inar, inar, inar, inar, inar - ticulate
Just how I feel
Do you know, do you know, do you know. do you know, just how I feel ?

Do you know, do you know, do you know, just how I feel ?
Do you know, do you know, do you know, do you know, just how I feel ?

Sheer heart attack
Sheer heart attack
Real cardiac

General Comment:"You're just 17 .. you know what I mean" ... probably some kind of an homage to the Beatles, since that's basically the opening line to "I Saw Her Standing There".

And I'm guessing, it's probably the first song to mention "DNA" in the lyrics!

General Comment:Oops, sorry. ROGER wrote the song, not Freddie. In that case, forget the whole "sexual orientation" theory.

Unless Roger was...no, no. He wasn't. Of course he wasn't. That's stupid.

    Right?

    Please? God?

General Comment:Heh... I like this song. It feels a little short... but I think that they got the overall message through pretty clearly. I can identify with it, as many others can, I imagine.

General Comment:The meaning of this song is summarized in the very first line: "Well you're just seventeen and all you want to do is disappear." In other words, teen angst. The individual described in the song feels stupid ("There's a lot of space between your ears"; "I feel so inarticualate") and just generally frustrated (hence "sheer heart attack".) He is self-conscious of his faults, but seems to blame them on his genes instead of taking responsibility for them ("It was the DNA that made me this way").

The "DNA" line could also have to do with the topic of sexual orientation, which some think is encoded in one's genes and impossible for outside influences to alter. Then again, it could just be about personality flaws, and I'm one of those stupid people who find a meaning of either AIDS or homosexuality in pretty much every Queen song unlucky enough to cross my path.

Perhaps Freddie felt like this in his teenage years, then looked back on it and decided it was good song material.

Which, judging from how good this song sounds, it definitely was!

General Comment:i think what everyone sed was good and all, but iv got a good idea of what it means. We all kno roger wrote the song and did all instruments except lead vocals.

The 1st verse is stuff his parents wud say to him, complaining and that. He throws it back at them saying it wud b their faults.
The 2nd verse is about drug experimentation, i think every1 can figure that out.
The song as a whole was written to show people that they were flexible, that they could keep up with the times, and they definity beat punk neway

General Comment:This song is a strike back at punk bands (such as the Sex Pistols, whose singer had a funny publicized exchange with Freddie one day) who said that Queen was passe and not true rock and roll. My favorite line is the "inar..."s-- basically saying that unintelligible lyrics don't necessarily make better rock n roll, and making fun of punk's dark view of the world. And using an SAT word to do it.
A similar-meaning song is Billy Joel's "It's still rock and roll to me", even though, while Queen DID punk on this song, Joel turned the clock back to show how it's all the same (a la Crazy Little Thing).
Another cool allusion to the same concept of rock being rock whenever is the beginning... the first and third lines are "Well you're just seventeen" and "you know what I mean"... the beginning of the Beatles "I saw her standing there".
That link might repeat what I just said, if so I apologize.
    Awesome song!

General Comment:Actually, it was originally going to be on the Sheer Heart Attack album, but they never got around to finishing it, but then they decided to finally get around to finishing it for the News of the World album.

There's a really good interpretation of the song here:
