Lyrics for Hand of God as interpreted by ADimeADexter

Hand of God Lyrics
Been gone more days this year
Than I have been home
Trading friends
For trips to the coast
This hotel room feels
More-oh like a tomb

Been gone more days this year
Than I have been home
Trading friends
For trips to the coast
This hotel room feels
More-oh like a tomb

It's not gossip
If it's the truth
I'm sick of always writing songs
For you to slit your wrists to

So which is it?
"The boy who writes the songs
or "The boy who's in them?'
Who's the girl?
Is this truth or is he writing fiction?

Hand over my heart, gun to my head
I swear to God I'm through with this
I am the worst liar I know

It's not gossip
If it's the truth
I'm sick of always writing songs
For you to slit your wrists to

So which is it?
"The boy who writes the songs
or "The boy who's in them?'
Who's the girl?
Is this truth or is he writing fiction?

So which is it?
"The boy who writes the songs
or "The boy who's in them?'
Who's the girl?
Is this truth or is he writing fiction?

(So which is it?)
So which is it? Which is it?

Who's the girl?
Is this truth or is he writing fiction?
Which is it?
"The boy who writes the songs
or "The boy who's in them?'
Who's the girl?
Is this truth or is he writing fiction??

Been gone more days this year than I have been home

This song seems to be the "little brother" to Brand New's song "I Will Play My Game..." the topic seems to be about the same, but FOB just lacked the lyrical style of BN.

This song is damn catchy though.

I haven't heard too many of the songs from the new CD, but reading the lyrics, I'm a little disappointed. It seems that there are so many allusions to other songs by other bands, most likely unintentional. It just seems like FOB lost its lyrical touch that made their last 2 releases so good.

maybe it's because you guys don't understand the song. the lyrics aren't terrible. i'd like to see you guys write this well.

this song is about a guy whos in a band, and he's getting tired of it. being the guy who writes the songs that mean so damn much to kids, and the questions he's asked about them.

Pete always manages to get a great line or two in each song.

Hand over my heart, gun to my head.

It's not gossip if it's the truth.

The other day I saw Fall Out Boy's members giving handjobs to the members of New Found Glory. Wow, that is gay. The singer for New Found Glory penetrated the bunghole of Fall Out Boy's drummer. Disgusting.

This song, while not as "complex" or as lyrically up to par as most of the songs that were put on From Under The Cork Tree, was not on the album do to the fact that Pete meant what he said in the song "I'm sick of always writing songs for you to slit your wrists to".

But if you guys pick up the Clandestine: Release The Bats DVD the songs is played during a bunch of clips of FOB in Japan. Other than that, this song is pretty much self-explanatory.

This is a great song, in my opinion. And HomelessHeart is right, like that needed to be said again lol...
I really, really wish this song had been put on the CD. I'm just glad, though, that even though it's NOT on the CD, we still got to hear it, 'cause it's a worthwhile song...and yeah, the line "been gone more days this year than i have been home" reminds me of Brand New's "I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin Light," but it's still its own song and I love it. :)

Pete said he wasn't taht impressed with this song. he thought the line "I'm sick of writing songs for you to slit your wrists to" just wasn't good enough. He said that's why it didn't make the cut.

It isn't my favourite by them, but I do very much like this song! I don't see why everyone seems to dislike it so much. When I first heard it I was unsure about it, but once I listened to it all the way through and listened to what it said I liked it.

so which is it?
the boy who writes the songs
or the boy who's in them?
who's the girl?
is this truth or is he writing fiction?

I think this a commentry on emo as a genre. The boy who writes the song is him as his real self. The Boy in the song though is differnt hes the emo boy who always has the girl leaving him, dumping him, rejecting him, etc etc... and prehaps there questioning the reality of the emotions in these songs? .... whos the girl? he asks... and is this truth or is it fiction...?

just my spin on it

October's AP has Pete saying it's about the WEbzines, which makes sense, seeing as they suck...still, great song, PEte's lyrics are amazing, and although I can kind of see why it didn't make the record, I still wish it did.
