I am the tragedy
And the heroine
I am lost And I am rescuing

The storm is come
And I am following

My name is Tristan
And I am alive

Forever young
I come from God knows where
Because now I'm here
Without a hope or care

I am trouble
And I am troubled too

My name is Tristan
And I am alive

Sorrow by name
And sorrow by nature
Working for joy
On overtime

Stuck on a line
Of misadventure
I fear no crime

I am the victim
And the murderer
You speak of love
But I've never heard of her

I am fucked
And I am fucking too

My name is Tristan
And I am alive

General Comment:My name is Tristan Pierce. I am a 25 years old Male. My mother named me from the Opera and book, Tristan and Isolde. The story is one of sadness blinded by hope. It was the Romeo and Juliet of its time. At the time its story was up against the story of Lancelot and Guinevere for who had the hottest couple. We saw who made mainstream books. Tristan was also one of King Arthur's Knights of the Round Table.
The name Tristan means Child of Sorrow from what I know. And I was exactly that. Being and Indigo Child I had a very rough childhood, I was very misunderstood and mislead towards doom due to my own actions and curiosities. I come to learn those things that made my life almost worth not living due to the disability to fit in and get along with others made me what I am which is an amazing, happy, loving, empathetic, good hearted human being. I was a child of sorrow, but now I am a man and I have seen myself, and my the book has yet to be written on my adulthood where as my childhood was doomed, it was in my name.
My life has been full of sexual lustful pleasure. Similar to how many of you express you feel after listening to this. I have not known love till more recently when I found what I would call my soulmate. My story is certainly of misadventure and I feel that Patrick was singing about my life in this song, down to the T, no pun intended. I am happy to have my own song that sings my old story. But I am no longer attached to the negatives of that name anymore.

Translation:He could be talking about an alter-ego, or maybe "Tristan" is a metaphor for something dark inside of him. Amazing song!

General Comment:Sad song actually. He doesn't feel alive. He's convinced himeself he is, but if you really examine the lyrics he is not happy. "Sorry by name and sorry by nature" and "I am trouble and I am troubled too" is not something a happy person says. "You speak of love but I have never heard of her" and "I am fucked and I am fucking too" makes me think he's just going through the motions of life. He's on a f-ed up HIGH while he's drowning inside. Hate Patrick Wolf's voice and music, but the song is definitely interesting.

General Comment:First, sorry for the mistakes in my english.

I don't know if it was in Patrick Wolf's mind... but it's funny:

the name "Tristan" comes from the old gaelic, "drust", and it means "uproar", "revolt". Later, the christians used the word "triste", "sad", to transform the name.

from the revolt to the sadness... Two meanings of a same name. Just like in this song.

I like this song for an obvious reason: my name is Tristan (for real :) ) It's such a common name in France (where I come from), but I didn't know it exists in english too. I heard Tristram, never Tristan.

General Comment:I love this song sooo much. No clue what it's about, but Patrick sings it with such oomf, like hes in pain. Definitely a sexy song, not entirely uncommon with Patrick Wolf songs if you think about the singer. Love you Patrick
