Germute
Livingston Burgundy
$5.99, two for ten
We're here in together
Anti-vitamin in the crudest form of nutrients
"You can't hold it against them," she said
She believes that all those who suffer from life is from an illness are in the right
The woman in the lobby stares me down, mocking and unconcerned
In California, news anchors all look like they were plucked from a threesome porno scene
You've got one slutty vixen type
One down from her is the short hot business woman
And in between them is an orange colored three piece suit
White-haired and fifty something
Witty with a dirty, tired smile
The man standing next door
Plays his radio just loud enough so you can tell there is something really close... on
When this whole thing started I was a name
Now there's a definition and a reason
The more I expect the harder things are
Jesus and the Sharp Electric Star

All about drugs. Not necessarily Anthony taking them, but being offered them as he inhabits California. Not so sure about the "You can't hold it against them" part...I really don't understand how that line fits into the song.
The woman in the lobby...
Anthony checks into a hotel or something the first night in California. He receives dirty (or seemingly dirty) looks from a woman in the lobby, and he immediately understands that he's not home; he's an outsider to all these people.
The news anchors part...
It's about the image of America...what other people see and believe is normal...when he talks about the news people, he isn't necessarily describing certain people, I believe it's just a generalization; an observation of how news channels pick people judging by their looks and drown them in makeup so people will watch the show and feel like they are ugly because everyone on television is good looking. The people on TV are a small fraction of the people on Earth, and not everyone looks like that.
The man and his radio...
There's so much noise surrounding him in the city. He's not used to it being loud...at all.
He expects things but he's disappointed.
i'm pretty god damn positive this is reflective of his change from philly to california when he left for Saosin.
It's pretty self explanitory, yet decidedly ambiguous, as Anthony usually is, as it gives you a setting. It even says California, and I'm sure the 'two for ten' thing is about the general surroundings of where he was, that's kind of how it is. People nagging to buy, two for one, blah blah.
I'd say the rest is introspection, ambiguous, still, and "When this whole thing started" is referring to him, his career, etc. It was still pretty early in it, the beginning really. And as for the very end/title, I can't really make that connecion.
