Lyrics for One More Night (Your Ex-Lover Remains De... as interpreted by foxiliary

One More Night (Your Ex-Lover Remains De... Lyrics
Try as he might, he's unable to speak
He grabs her by the hair, he strokes her on the cheek
The bed is unmade, like everything is
Dark little heaven at the top of the stairs
Take me like that, ruin it all
Then build it again, by the light in the hall
He drops to his knees, says, "Please, my love, please
I'll kill who you hate, take off that dress, you won't freeze"

One more night, that was a good one
One more night, I dreamed it was good one (one more)
One more night, that was a good one
One more night, the end should be a good one
A good one

He starts with her back, because thats what he sees
When she's breaking his heart, she still fucks like a tease
Release to the sky, look him straight in the eye
And tell him, right now, that you wish he would die
You'll never touch him again, so get what you can
Leaving him empty, just because he's a man
So good when it ends, they'll never be friends
One more night, thats all they can spend in

to me it's about the end of a relationship and the breakup sex that comes in the end. "you'll never touch him again, so get what you can" and "one more night, that's all they can spend in"
beautiful song.

this song is definitely about breakup ("The bed is unmade, like everything is") sex ("the end should be a good one")...NOT RAPE! What's unique about this approach is you hear both the girl's and guy's take on "One More Night"... what confuses me about this song is the perspective: is it first person or third?? they both refer to themselves and to "him" and "she"??

It's a great song from a great album. It's about breakup sex. The girl in the song seems like she's sad but kind of getting revenge. The guy seems more emotional somehow. It's not about rape.

love the song...

i dunno about the breakup sex and all....

anyone else feel that the singer is being bitter and sarcastic when she sings, "one more night, THAT WAS A GOOD ONE"...

like someone told her "just one more night", and then it turns out it wasn't, and she's angry at them for saying that.

*sighs* okay kids, it's evan and amy, two of the most passionate singers that anyone will ever come across on this planet, this song is the second half of your ex-lover is dead, if you look inside the booklet with the lyrics, it says in brackets after one more night, your ex lover is dead still or something along those lines. the song is about the end of a relationship, it's a great tune and it's as simple as that, enjoy the lyrics, especially amy milan.

ive been a huge fan of their stuff for a while now, but i still can't get over how great this song is. that last instrumental part to close out the song is beautiful. god, this is what pop is supposed to be all about. none of that ashlee simpson shit.

yeah so i just saw them live in central park, and torq said that this "is a song about f*cking someone in order to kill them." Not so sure what that means, but aright.

amazing song first of all ! wow...anyways, my take on it is that it is about two people having sex after they have broken up.
"One more night, that was a good one"- sarcastically as if they both know that when they say that, it is not the truth.
"The bed is un-made, like everything is"- shows that everything is not decided upon whether or not they are dating or just having sex for the hell of it.
"He starts with her back, cause thats what he sees"-meaning she has her back turned to him because she is not fully into the sex because she knows it is wrong and won't fix anything.
"dark little heaven at the top of the stairs
take me like that, ruin it all
then build it again, by the light in the hall"- meaning that when they go into the bedroom everything is ruined because in a sense it is meaningless sex because they are not dating but he will fix everything outside of the bedroom because he will treat her well.
"you'll never touch him again, so get what you can"- she sees it as a last opportunity to be with him so she will settle with just having sex with him in the hopes of getting him back

..anyways, thats what I got out of the song! Truly a beautiful song.

this song doesn't sound really like it's about rape at all. it sounds like rough sex at the end of a bad, drawn-out relationship that's finally coming to a close.

this is one of my favorite songs. every echo, every pause, every inflection, every reverb is simply perfectly used. both parties sound so hollow but so pained. the little rockout after "you'll never touch him again" is an effective use of shock to get a reaction, musically, lyrically and emotionally.

if it's about lovers mutually scorned, breakup sex, or a one-night stand between people who have slept together/know each other - all meanings would fit, frankly - it almost doesn't matter, because the emotions at work here are so primally human. "take off that dress/you won't freeze" particularly effects me because he's trying to care but he wants her at the same time. by the end of the song, you end up sympathizing and yet not liking both people, and that's brilliant.

The bit about him grabbing her by the hair and stroking her cheek isn't supposed to lead the listener on to think that the ENTIRE song is about rough sex. It's just a minor detail that adds into the overall picture of the story. Just like everyone has said...It's a bad and bitter relationship that is coming to a close "break-up sex", whatever you want to call it.

Regardless, it's a beautiful song.

I Love this sonG, It's my new favourite for sure. I agree with what everyone's saying pretty much. They are having sex one last time and they know it.

"he starts with her back, cause thats what he sees
when shes breaking his heart, she still f*cks like a tease"..s the best lines, so hollow yet rich and beautiful

Gorgeous

"this a song about f*cking someone in order to kill them." the girl in the song is only fucking the guy to 'kill' him. it isn't that she doesn't want to but they both know it will end after this. the whole break-up sex idea.

"dark little heaven at the top of the stairs take me like that, ruin it all then build it again, by the light in the hall" those words are amazing. i think this part shows she's actually enjoying it.

"release to the sky, look him straight in the eye
and tell him right now, that you wish he would die" because it says 'sky' i think of the guy having blue eyes. this is the part where she 'kills' him.

holy crap, i'm seeing them in two weeks! =D super excited!

sounds like sex to me. it seems like the girl is willing, but she doesn't want the boy to know. she deeply craves the tenderness.
