So here's the truth
You were right all along
You were never my friends
I was living a lie
But I won't fall for it next time

You figured me out
Like a leaf in the wind
I try to find who I am
But wind up lost in the end
Sometimes its hard to know what's real
When your not

Cause you know I change myself to impress
Whoever happens to be next to me
But I'm sick of trying so hard
Waste all your time with me
I know I'm a mess right now
Don't give up, believe
I'd wait it out for you
Waste all your time with me
I know I'm a mess right now
Don't give up, believe
I'd wait it out for you

Everyday I'm just making my rounds
Just digging a hole 6 feet underground
Sometimes its hard to know what's real
When your not

Cause you know I change myself to impress
Whoever happens to be next to me
But I'm sick of trying so hard
Waste all your time with me
I know I'm a mess right now
Don't give up, believe
I'd wait it out for you
Waste all your time with me
I know I'm a mess right now
Don't give up, believe
I'd wait it out for you

Nothings here for me
Nothings here for me
Nothings here for me
But you

Waste all your time with me
I know I'm a mess right now
Don't give up, believe
I'd wait it out for you
Waste all your time with me
I know I'm a mess right now
Don't give up, believe
I'd wait it out for you

I'd wait it out for you!
I'd wait it out for you!

Song Meaning:I believe that along with the story I've interpreted in my head for this album, the narrator had committed suicide in Car Underwater and then regretted it as heaven was more like hell in The Truth About Heaven. In this song, I think it's him remembering his reasoning for committing suicide. He's saying why he needed to do it, but also thinking to himself that he would have done anything for his girlfriend..

General Comment:I listened to this album a lot and never thought much of the common theme until I moved home from somewhere far away I'd been for a while. What I take from this entire album is that it's written from the perpective of someone who had been home for a long time trying to maintain the connections and relationships they had back home, only to realize when they came back that everyone had moved on with their lives, making them feel invisible, or dead, because without being a tangible part of their lives that's basically what can become.

That to say this: what I take from the song is that when he came back he'd been replaced in the role that he once filled in some of his friend's lives, probably basically a drinking buddy (though he thought it was more), and someone has been trying to explain that to him all along.

General Comment:Every song on this album has impressed me, though I agree that this one may be getting away from the concept album. Still a great song though.

General Comment:simple and plain its about being a fake and him trying to fix himself to be with this one girl cause he realizes what a mess he really is and how fake his whole life has become but shes real to him

My Interpretation:Basically, hes not being himself,he's pretending to be something else to get friends or a girlfriend maybe,we've all been in this situation surely.

    ''You were never my friends

''Cause you know I change myself to impress

General Comment:This song is the story of my life. In elementary school, I didn't have any friends, so when middle school rolled around I did everything I could to conform and get people to like me. It took until halfway through freshman year to break that habit. I'm a junior now and I still haven't lived it down.

But wow, do I know what it's like to beg people to just give me some time to find the real me. But I must say, it's really funny how often people will criticize you for something you learned from them.

    Armor for Sleep is amazing!

General Comment:This song is real to me. Cause it's exactly what I'm going through right now. It's exactly it. It's pretty much how I feel word for word. I absolutely love Armor for Sleep.

    "So here's the truth
    You were right all along
    They were never my friends
    I was living a lie
But I won’t fall for it next time"

He's seeing that the people who have been saying that these people aren't your friends are right. Even though, he didn't want to believe it at first, he was 'living the lie.' But, he will find 'true' friends next time.

    "You figured me out
Like a leaf in the wind
I try to find who I am
But wind up lost in the end
Sometimes it’s hard to know what’s real when you’re not"

He's still trying to figure out exactly how he fits and who he is. Even though in the end, he winds up being 'fake' again. Because, he /is/ fake and so he can't figure out what about him isn't.

"Cause you know I change myself to impress
Whoever happens to be next to me
But I’m sick of trying so hard
Waste all your time with me
    I know I’m a mess right now
    Don’t give up in me
I’d wait it out for you
Waste all your time with me
    I know I’m a mess right now
    Don’t give up in me
I’d wait it out for you"

He changes who he is for whoever is around him so he can fit in. I think here is when the relationship part really presents itself (Rather its love, friends, or family i dunno) Even though he doesn't know whats what, he wants the person to stay with him and not to give up on him.

"Everyday I’m just making my rounds
Just digging a hole 6 feet underground
Sometimes its hard to know what’s real when your not"

Obviously, he's just going through each day like he should. Same old, same old. Wasting away the days until he dies.

I think the song is kinda self explanitory...
