Attention, attention
May I have all your eyes and ears
To the front of the room
If only
If only for one second

This table has taken a turn for the worse
Rock bottom
And over the edge
Well
It's not like it hurts that much anyway
Upside down and inside out
When I leave here I'm going alone
Well it's not like it
Not like it hurts much anyway

Attention, attention
May I have all your eyes and ears
To the front of the room
If only
If only for one second
Will you hear what I have to say?
Oh oh, did I mention when I see you it stings like hell
Due to the fact that we could have something
That'll never happen
Did you hear what I have to

This balance has weighed out our heart's desire
I'm trying to make it alone
Well it's not like it hurts that much anyway
Upside down and inside out
When I leave here I'm going alone
But I'm dying
I'm dying to touch
And it's not like it
Not like it hurts much anyway

Attention, attention
May I have all your eyes and ears
To the front of the room
If only
If only for one second
Will you hear what I have to say?
Oh oh, did I mention when I see you it stings like hell
Due to the fact that we could have something, something, something

Attention, attention
May I have all your eyes and ears
To the front of the room
If only
If only for one second
Will you hear what I have to say?
Oh oh, did I mention when I see you it stings like hell
Due to the fact that we could have something
That'll never happen
Did you hear what I have to say

Attention, attention
Upside down and inside out
Attention, attention
Upside down and inside out

This is my favorite TAI song of all time and I just wish they got as much credit as they deserve. William Beckett's lyrics on this whole album fit my life so well, especially this song. To me, it's about loving someone that will never love you back because of a situation. It's about knowing you're perfect for someone but you just got there a few days, months, or years to late and they gave their heart to someone else. The chorus is more or less about wanting to tell that person about it and needing so badly for them to understand, as well as just being understood by everyone around you. I could go on and on about the multiple meanings to this because it fits my life more than any song I've ever heard. Thank God William wrote it. The Academy Is... is one of the best bands ever!!!

    i disagree......

they are more of a indie/rock band than a pop/punk

as a matter of fact i dont see the 'punk' that you are talking about at all

at the beginning, he stops at "if only for one second" and then goes straight into "this table..."

but, to me, this song means a lot. it reminds me of how it feels when you want someone's attention and they never seem to notice you. very well performed live. i loved it!

    great song great band.

i think its about wanting to make amends with an ex that you werent really ready to break off with. you want to make amends with them but they just dont have the same interest in you anymore. you try to tell yourself that what you did was right, and that your over them "it doesnt hurt that bad anyway", when really you still feel your heart drop when you see them. "im dying im dying to touch" i think thats saying how you just want to hold them again and retry something that once was.

i love this song and it's very catchy.

i think it's about someone who is dying to just be noticed and he wants it so bad that it almost hurts but he doesn't want to seem desperate so he pretends it's no big deal. he knows what they would have if he just had a chance to show her, but it'll never happen. idk. that's just my take on the song.

    i'm inlove with this band.x3

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
