for me it means he wants to be somewhere secluded and peaceful etc etc..
or maybe i just heard it wrong. hehe. nonetheless, DLD's fantastic!!!!
I think that the person in this song is thinking about his ex or someone he 'almost' loved. He is thinking about sometime/place where him and this 'perfect person' would be together. He thinks the world he is in isnt that great so he is dreaming of this oasis where all that would matter were him and his love. "i want to be where love is real" meaning the obvious. But from other things it makes sense that this place isnt where he is right now. "Someday I know I’ll find a way, To keep myself from holding on" meaning that he is perhaps trying to get over someone or something that happened but he can't. eventually he will though.

Obviously, he wants his wish to relive his memories, possibly of past loves he has had (or good, in general). The world won't hold on for your memories forever and he can't help the way he feels and as it says, "It shows no mercy for those who hold on."
This song is equally beautiful to "Cue the Sun," in my opinion. I also wish that memories would come true.
While you're stuck in the present pondering about the past, you soon realize that just as soon as your present become your future, you realize that the past present is something that you're now going to ponder and it's a neverending thing if you don't just except the good times and bad.
