this may seem weird, because although i can see where everyone here is coming from, i got a different feeling from this song.

i was thinking it was about this girl who is in love with this guy...but the guy has a girlfriend and isnt interested in this girl who is totally in love with him.

it says everything she does is beautiful and right, i think this is talking about this guy's gf...

I really like this song. It expresses, what I feel and what a lot of others feel I'm sure, the confusion and pain you go through to tell the person you love how you feel about them. Everything is blocked out of your mind, everything is perfect. I think falling in love, is worth it, even if it ends in pain.

soooo beautiful...heard this in the backround of sum SVU slideshow and i fell in love with this... i cannot stop listening to it! i didnt realize that this was a recent thing...ill have to check out the new album...i only ever really listened to Hangning By A Moment by Lifehouse, guess i was missing out.

the song is about a couple trying to overcome all the trials in their relationship..its like the guy is telling the girl that it doesn't matter if the whole world is against them as long as they got each other..its a sweet song

This summer I heard this radio DJ introduce this song and say that this summer someone was gonna fall in love with a person of the opposite sex and have this as their song...and well, you could go back and read all the 31 people that this happened to...and I'm just glad it happened to me too...I'm really lucky that I am even able to like the person I do and be with her as much as I am and even though she's one of the biggest dorks in the world, I love her and am unbelievably happy she was born...the sad thing is that she's moving to FL...and while we're nowhere near that place now...I sure wish this didn't have to be..but, what I realize is that this is a song you take with you for a long time to come even if it leaves you heartbroken and lost..and I think those people that fall in love with someone and have this as their song, they'll have a much harder time parting with it

bluemusiq7, thats an interesting but touching story.
Anyways yes I do agree that this song is about a guy falling in love with this and that despite how much the world is against him or who he is with his focus is her. He is infatuated with her. I've never fallen in love and would like to get through a couple more years before I do. but when I hear this song it makes me cry. It's a good song to listen to but also it could easily become someones break up song....along time ago Ocean Avenue was mine. Anyways the song is beautiful. I wish guys at my school would hear this and learn that women are beautiful things. I wish guys would have more respect towards s. MTV and all the media has changed the way people think. It's devasting one might say. If there is one thing I wish is that everyone knew this song...It's beautiful and explains so much in approximetly 4 min.

Yesterday on my flight from London to New York, the very helpful United Airlines DJ explained to me that this song is about "being totally in love with someone, but not sure if they feel the same".

I feel that I can relate to these lyrics very well, as most of them have applied in my situations before.

This song is just amazingly beautiful, and i think it brings out the purpose of love and how all couples should be. the song is saying "i don't know what i would do without you, and you'll all i ever need" because of the line\\and i don't know why i can't keep my eyes off of you// it just is great

See I feel a completely different meaning for this song. To me its about a couple that really love each other but everyone keeps interfering. But that might just be the way im interperting it becuase I am in that kind of situation right now. Me and my wife have been married for over a year and have been together for 4 years and were best friends for a few years before we got together. But still my family didnt approvr andnever really liked her. Well recently me and my wife had a fight and i thought it was over, I had to stay at my parents house and my family was pushing me to end it. But all I could think about was her, i couldnt put into words how I felt and how much I loved her. Thats when I realized I shouldnt have to explain myself. Its about Me and Her, Not all of you. Thats why I love this song and why sometimes I cry when I hear it...I just feel it so much. The lines "cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do, nothing to prove." really mean alot to me. Cuz me and my wife have nothing to prove to them. Its about Us. I also like the begining of the song....cuz when your totally involved with and have given yourself compeltely to someone you do lose track of time. the song telling you if you love someone the be with them. You can't live your life through everyone one around you. You have to be true to yourself. least thats what it means to me.

I cry every time I hear this amazing song cause it played during our prom's grand march and my boyfriend is now 288 miles away at college and I miss him! I absolutely love the song, the lines, the guitar part, everything. I wish my hands were strong enough to do bar chords on my guitar, cause the bridge has a couple bar chords in it and I cant really play it. Love the song though!!!

I really like this song...I don't know why actually. Sometimes I just like a song, for no particular reason. Lifehouse is a goodband, and they have some good vibes going on too. This song was used in an episode of Smallville in a scene between Lana and Clark in Clark's barn. Anyway, I think the lyrics are off...did anyone else notice that too? I could be wrong. I guess it's the way people hear it...like reading a poem or novel...different people interpret it different ways...

This song is a straight forward sonf written for the radio - simple chords, cute melody and lyrics that make it easy to relate to & understand... Lifehouse are a brilliant band (listen to the rest of the album - expecially track 4) ... they know how to right music - however with a recording contract - songs like this are inevatible ... they goto sell...

However, that does'nt mean that this song has no meaing at all... If i were to take a shot at it... i would say that it is simply about an infatuation at the begining of a possible relationship... I think he is at some place and he spots this girl - their eyes meet - and he can't keep watching her the whole time he is there... He can't understand his obsession:

I can't quite figure out
everything she does is beautiful
everything she does is right"

Just this simple infatuation has made his life seem lighter - it's easier to wake up - I think everyone has this at least one time in their life. So ... it's him and her at this place he is at ... there is somthing about her that infatuates him... he goes home... wakes up... remembers her and the feeling he gets:

This song is like "Haning by a moment" on the last album - it sells! It's not lifehouse - they are much deeper both musically & lyrically...

I have two theories about this one, and neither of them are kind, so please, excuse me in advance.
Jason wade is supposed to have been in a relationship for a while, am I right? So if this love song is based on personal lyrics, it’s not about her. It’s about another girl he has a crush on. This is way too infatuated to be about someone you’ve been with for years.
Other option is that he was notified that he has to write another hit single, like “hanging by a moment” before the ship sinks (after Stanley climbfall…?). I mean, he’s a terrific song writer, but sometimes he can be such a lyrics whore.
Great song. Really. They’ve done much better.
