Lyrics for Miles From Monterey as interpreted by alreadyiamlonely

Miles From Monterey Lyrics
16 hours away...a bit too far from Monterey
Never mind the coastline
Need a dime to pay the phone
I can hear her say
All the lights are raining down.

I'm falling away, I'm falling in love
Come on, come on, come on, let it go

On a highway...rows & rows of tired lives
Miles from Monterey
Passing cars with broken hearts
I still hear her say

I'm falling away, I'm falling in love
Come on, come on, come on, let it go

The sunlight falls from orange to red
On the road to stars that chain together
We could never see what never is

I'm falling away, I'm falling in love
Come on, come on, come on, let it go

I absolutely love this song. It's just one of those songs that leaves you yearning for something more, be it love or happiness.

I downloaded this song a year ago and it randomly played today and I can't stop listening to it on repeat.

I think this song is about a long distance relationship and it's putting a strain on the relationship. The girl went away and is growing distant. He is desperately trying to save the relationship. He's driving to her in heartache and reminiscing that they were once a couple that "could never see what never is," meaning maybe that when they were young they thought they could do anything together. He tells her to "let it go," which I is him telling her to let go of the idea of "falling away."
