Rollin' down the highway
Like a rocket
Headed to town now
You can't stop it
Got wheel in my hand
As I stand
On the floor
Of the board
Of this car
On the road
Got this woman in the back seat
Yeah she's my wifey
In the middle of the delivery
Man she saves me
To this day I don't know why
She picked me up
When i was down on the road
With the wind when it blowed

Well a son's gonna rise in a mile
In a mile
In a mile
You'll be feeling fine
In a mile you will see
After me
You'll be out of the dark, yeah
You'll get your shot

General Comment:I think this song is sort of about getting a chance at redemption with the birth of your child. My interpretation is that before meeting his wife, he may not have been in the best place. I picture him reflecting on this as he drives to the hospital and thinking about how in just a little while (or a "mile") he'll get a shot at making something of himself he can be proud of by being a father. So as literal as the fact is that his "son's gonna rise," the sun will also be rising on a new chapter of his life.

But for all I know it could be about heroin and hookers and aloe plants and those gloves that let you operate touch screen electronics.

My Interpretation:Sons gonna rise in a mile...you'll be outta the dark....
They're headed to the hospital - and the son will be born and no longer in the dark womb!
After the son is born, the "wife" will be feeling fine...and the son will have his shot at life!

General Comment:There's a first verse to this song you're missing. It's a little different from this one, the one here is the second verse. It's:

    Goin' down the highway
    Like a rocket
Got a minute to town now
    Can't stop it
With the wheels in my hand
    As I stand
    On the floor
    Or the board
    Of this car
    On the road
Got this woman in the backseat
    She's my wifey
    In the middle of delivery
    Man, she saved me
To this day I don't why
    She picked me up
When I was down on the road
    with the wind
    and the cold

After that I think it's the same...

General Comment:this is about the birth of his child
but has a metaphorical side too as in the sun's gonna rise as well as the son.

General Comment:chasecar, your an idiot by the way, and i really doubt that you were ever a heroin addict, because anyone whose ever been through any kind of rehab and made a succefull recovery knows, that your never cured. Once your an addict your an addict for life.

General Comment:Citizen Cope is notorious for writing whatever lyrics he can onto paper, and then figuring out what they mean. This song is more literal then that though, but i think like most songs it can be taken any way by the listener. For me it's just a song about "keep on keeping on". Pretty much don't stop now, because in a mile everything will be okay. The stupid petty shit that matters today won't matter at all tomorrow..

General Comment:this flow of this song is soo laid back and chill.
personally I think the song is about how you can be going through crappy times..but hopefully soon you'll "be out of the dark" and get the recognition you want.
