    Song Meaning:It's subjective but I think this is a goodby letter to alcohol or drugs or both. When you are an addict/alcoholic, your drug is like your lover-it's more important than anything or anyone in your life. Think of alcohol speaking the first 2 verses "took ur soul out into the night"..."saw u were blinded and I knew I had won". Then as the song goes on the writer is talking back to alcohol. "u can't break my spirit, it's my dreams u take". "I cannot live without u"=addiction and "kneeling at your feet" =powerless/slave to alcohol. The last line "I'm so hollow is exactly what addicts/alcoholics report feeling when giving up their drug.

    General Comment:Everybody I think interprets this into their own situation. Mine? A few months ago, a girl, whom I think is the first I've ever loved, separated. It's a long story, but what happened was I met her my freshman year of high school, really started liking her my sophomore year, but she was homeschooled. My junior year, I was absolutely crazy about her, and let her know how much I liked her and that I wanted to be her boyfriend. She shot me down with a "I don't date. I hate relationships." The reality of the situation was that she was with my good friend, and had been for a few months before I asked her out. They broke up, and she told me that she still liked me a lot, but wanted to wait before she went into a relationship. Again, she was dating a friend of mine. He turned into a dick and she couldn't do it anymore, so she came running to me. And stupidly, I took her back. I was head-over-heels, in love with her. Nothing could make me love her less. I still loved her after all of this. A few months later, she left me because she needed to fix things with herself, but "still wanted to try." Well yesterday, I found out she is with the the guy she was with before me.

    This song has been on loop for almost 24 hours. Here's how I see this song. A guy fell in love with his best friend. It didn't work, and he blames himself fully for it. It's over, but he won't stop trying to be there for her, maybe in hopes that he will get her back, even though he is almost certain that he won't. In a way, he's addicted to her, or even her attention. He was so in love with her that she has changed how he sees everyday life, and has even changed what he wants to do with his life. They were friends, lovers, and maybe at this point, he has realized that she isn't interested, and that he isn't going to stop loving her as long as she's part of his life. As much as this kills him inside, he realizes that he needs to erase her from his life. Even though everything that reminds him of her is gone, he still "holds her hand in his." Goodbye my lover, goodbye my friend. You have been the one for me.

    General Comment:I think this song is about twin flames relationship. When twin souls first meet, it's love at first sight for them. They hardly need to speak the words “I love you” because they just know that they belong to each other so that means in this song that he knew that he had won because she was blinded with her unconditional love for him since the very beginning when they first met. So he took her eternal flame she never knew she had which was awakened by their fated meeting because to him her unconditional love for him is his eternal right. He feels that nothing is the same after him meeting her for his lives and goals have forever changed after he met her. They are both blinded and consumed with their overwhelming unconditional love for each other.Their eternal bond is so strong that they know each other well and they share the same dreams and fears. They want to be with each other all the time and he becomes addicted to her. But their love is so intense and so consuming which makes the woman he loves so much ends up running from him out of fear of the intensity of their love. They both have had doubts if the other person loves them as much as they do so they separate. During the separation he's so hollow because feels incomplete without her in his life. He's deeply hurt and he feels with her leaving him she takes away his dreams. He wonders if she was dissapointed in him or if he had let her down that made her left him and whether he should feel guilty for her leaving him. But finally he decides to let go of his resentment because realizes that his run away soulmate is the one for him and he can't live without her. He won't stop loving her even when his relationship with her is over because his love for her is so unconditional and he'll always be there for her if only she'd care. He decides to wait for her until she comes back to him and when that happens he'll be kneeling at her feet and bare his soul to her and only her.

    My Opinion:this doesnt make any sense to me at all. if the song were merely about a breakup, why would he sing: "we've had our doubts, but now we're fine" or "when i'm kneeling at your feet"?? he obviously means marriage by that second one, so everything else he sings kind of conflicts with "i still hold your hand in mine", doesnt it? i dont get the song at all, but its still beautiful :)

    My Interpretation:I think it's about falling out of love with your soulmate, or realising you can never be together and parting ways. He knows they can't stay together, even though he loves her more than anything, because things have changed and there's too much between them, a lot of water under the bridge. And he's completely numb from the pain.

    General Comment:I really, really hate this song. It is good, it really is, but it hurts like anything to listen to it. Everyone has that one girl that got away, the one you'll never ever get over. This song just seems to rekindle the heartbreak.
