Girl, I'm in love with you
This ain't the honeymoon
Passed the infatuation phase
Right in the thick of love
At times we get sick of love
Seems like we argue everyday
I know I misbehaved and you made your mistakes
And we both still got room left to grow
And though love sometimes hurts
I still put you first
And we'll make this thing work but I think maybe we should take it slow
[chorus]
We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
Cause we're ordinary people
Baby we should take it slow
Take it slow, ohh
This time we'll take it slow
Take it slow, ohh
This time we'll take it slow
This ain't a movie love
No fairytale conclusion y'all
It gets more confusing everyday
Sometimes it's heaven sent
Then we head back to hell again
We kiss then we make up on the way
I hang up, you call
We rise and we fall
And we feel like just walking away
As our love advances we take second chances
Though it's not a fantasy I still want you to stay
This ain't the honeymoon
Passed the infatuation phase
Right in the thick of love
At times we get sick of love
Seems like we argue everyday
I know I misbehaved and you made your mistakes
And we both still got room left to grow
And though love sometimes hurts
I still put you first
And we'll make this thing work but I think maybe we should take it slow
[chorus]
We're just ordinary people
We don't know which way to go
Cause we're ordinary people
Baby we should take it slow
Take it slow, ohh
This time we'll take it slow
Take it slow, ohh
This time we'll take it slow
This ain't a movie love

"We're just ordinary people,
We don't know which way to go,
Cause we're ordinary people,"
Thanks, John, I forgot that you were ordinary people while you were telling me you don't know which way to go.
The ryhming isn't consistant throughout the song either. He seems to be using three or four different pairings. I suppose it's more convenient to write that way though, whenever you can't make it ryhme just change styles. These lyrics are so poorly writen they almost trump the music and vocals in sheer artistic failure. The man can't sing, and the piano sounds like it's being improvised by a twelve year old boy.
John Legend has proven through this song that he's not an ordinary person. He's on the high side of absolutely unacceptable at best.
Nothing more needs to be said.
Since you all seem to think this song is so great I have a website you might like to visit. thearc.org
I'm sure you'll all fit right in.
Congratulations "Davematthewsgrl7"! Because of the complete and utter stupidity of your comment you get your own section. What exactly about this song is so realistic? That it talks about working out your problems on step at a time? Thousands upon thousands of songs, movies, books and television shows have presented the same message, though never, to my knowledge, as poorly as this.
John Legend sucks.
Idiot.
Oridinary People is a masterpiece in my opinion, and you do know T.S.I.B you dont have to rhyme all the time. In fact, its better when you dont. I mean i can write a song in five minuets with great ryhming consistency, but it still doesn't mean it's a great song. This is a brilliant song that is both relevant and thoughtful, and it is thoes things that matter most to people. Personally, i think you need to buy a inflatable doll to reduce your boredom.
