Helping the kids out of their coats
But wait the babies haven't been born oh oh oh
Unpacking the bags and setting up
And planting lilacs and buttercups oh oh oh
But in the meantime I've got it hard
Second floor living without a yard
It may be years until the day
My dreams will match up with my pay
Old dirt road (mushaboom)
Knee deep snow (mushaboom)
Watching the fire as we grow (mushaboom)
Old
I've got a man to stick it out
And make a home from a rented house oh oh oh
And we'll collect the moments one by one
I guess that's how the future's done oh oh oh
How many acres how much light
Tucked in the woods and out of sight
Talk to the neighbours and tip my cap
On a little road barely on the map
Old dirt road (mushaboom)
Knee deep snow (mushaboom)
Watching the fire as we grow (mushaboom)
Old
Old dirt road
Rambling rose (mushaboom)
Watching the fire as we grow (mushaboom)
Well earnesd soul
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
But wait the babies haven't been born oh oh oh
Unpacking the bags and setting up
And planting lilacs and buttercups oh oh oh
But in the meantime I've got it hard
Second floor living without a yard
It may be years until the day
My dreams will match up with my pay
Old dirt road (mushaboom)
Knee deep snow (mushaboom)
Watching the fire as we grow (mushaboom)
Old
I've got a man to stick it out
And make a home from a rented house oh oh oh
And we'll collect the moments one by one
I guess that's how the future's done oh oh oh
How many acres how much light
Tucked in the woods and out of sight
Talk to the neighbours and tip my cap
On a little road barely on the map
Old dirt road (mushaboom)
Knee deep snow (mushaboom)
Watching the fire as we grow (mushaboom)
Old
Old dirt road
Rambling rose (mushaboom)
Watching the fire as we grow (mushaboom)
Well earnesd soul
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh

To me, this song has always been about living life to its fullest and enjoying everything you can. It's so cute, and Feist has such a nice voice!
"It may be years until the day my dreams will match up with my pay" is my favourite line. It's so sad but yet hopeful at the same time.
Makes me feel better even though my girlfriend is away for two weeks.
most of the album is about that slick bastard.
I want it to be played at my wedding :)
she was born in Amherst then she moved to Calgary with her mother and her brother
but i do agree with the general consensus it's about settling down with her man. read the new rolling stone article about her. she talks about buying a lot of stuff for her new home. she wants to call it the unicorn ranch or something its pretty interesting. she said she's been wandering since the age of 15, and she just hopes to settle down one day
