to my mind it sounds like a typical song about drugs...
just an idea, but if you want to say ist just about love, love can be a drug too - so both ideas seems to fit?!
it's pretty self explanatory - one craves for love but when he finds it, he or the other person derogates it. that's why he can never find the real thing.
