Spin me some sad story
sell me some excuse
to help me understand the things you do
'cause the way you treat your lovers
well I just can't relate
well where'd you learn to shoot your gun so straight?

oh baby won't you cry?
show me there are some tears behind your eyes
oh baby won't you cry?
show me there's a hurt behind your eyes

once you had a reason
and once you had a place
you had it all and laid it all to waste
and I know you hate to need us
but why'd you need to hate?
and where'd you learn to shoot without restraint?

oh baby won't you cry?
you cut yourself so let me see you bleed
oh baby won't you cry?
cry for all the things you'll never be

don't you see your father?
don't you feel the love?
don't you see your brother?
don't you feel the love?
well could you be a mother
could you ever find the love?
that you would not place yourself above

oh baby won't you cry?
show me there are some tears behind your eyes
oh baby won't you cry?
why'd you have to kill to feel alive?
why'd you have to kill to feel alive?
why'd you have to kill to feel alive?

My Interpretation:I think this song can be taken in many ways, obviousely girlfriends/boyfriends and even relationships that you see between other people! I think that its not as much of an angry song as people think, more of a heart-felt one. the person being sung about is acting very closed off and their behaving in a way that the singer never thought they could or would. He/She is acting recless and emotionaly blank, the singer knows theres alot more to them than this vasade so doesnt understand how they can act like this to them! It realy is a very bittersweet song, you love it because it reminds you of someone you know or love and thats why people connect to it!!

General Comment:yesterday there was a conflict and a general fuss and then a careless cop shot and killed a 16-year-old passenger.....a 16-year-old boy who had nothin' to do with all of it, a simple passenger..... hey u cop:''where'd u learn to shoot your gun so straight?????''u said u shot in the air just to intimidate those who had provoked this whole scene but then how the fuck did the bullet end up into an innocent boy's body??u call it an accident right??why did u even have to pull a gun anyway??i guess it s in the human nature right??human instincts...u hold a gun and u feel so superior and powerful and invincible...but ''why'd u have to kill to feel alive...........???''

General Comment:I love this song, which is strange because it's not really my type of music at all. I just love the bitter tone. Best line by far is "Oh baby won't you cry? Cry for all the things you'll never be". I feel like that sums up the whole message. This person has been cruel and likes hurting people and the worst thing is that they can't even see what's wrong with them.

General Comment:my ex-boyfriend dedicated this song to me when i broke up with him. and then he made my life hell for the following two months. and now he's completely over me and doesnt give a shit anymore and im the one still going out of my mind although i dnt love him anymore and would never get back together with him. it kills me. so... little did he know that i was going to be able to dedicate this song back to him. he set himself up for it.
just goes to show that shit goes both ways. i may have been what he considered the cruel and ruthless person in the relationship but he became cruel and ruthless too.
two bad people in one relationship makes for a hell of a pothole in the road of life.

General Comment:I am new to the 22-20's, but I really like this song. "Where you learn to shoot your gun so straight?..." A line that we can all relate to in a world where there are many ruthless money hungry people. *See also: George Bush

General Comment:I like this song and feel the meaning is fairly obvious, a woman can do some serious damage to a man when they want to. Usually they don't actually shoot you but they do know what buttons to push to make you feel like you had just been shot...

General Comment:Hearing what you are saying on your mate saying they are full of anger. BUT, thats because they play the blues! What do they expect? This song is ace. I listened to it constantly after breaking up with my girlfriend cos it represented all the anger i had built up about the situation - how can someone so close change all of a sudden and totally mess with your head having given you such good times in the past. It feels as though they have been so ruthless and showing no emotion over it - or at least thats how it feels when you are on the receiving end. I love the line 'where'd you learn to shoot your gun so straight?'. That is the perfect way of summing up how a loved one changes when they dump you and you wonder how they can be so heartless. Its obviously a metophorical stance, they don't literally shoot you, but its about the damage that they have inflicted upon you.
