This is the springtime of my loving
The second season I am to know
You are the sunlight in my growing
So little warmth I've felt before.
It isn't hard to feel me glowing
I watched the fire that grew so low.
It is the summer of my smiles-
Flee from me keepers of the gloom.
Speak to me only with your eyes
It is to you I give this tune.
Ain't so hard to recognize
These things are clear to all from
Time to time. Ooooh
Talk talk-
I've felt the coldness of my winter
I never thought it would ever go
I cursed the gloom that set upon us
But I know that I love you so
But I know that I love you so.
These are the seasons of emotion
And like the winds they rise and fall
This is the wonder of devotion
I see the torch we all must hold.
This is the mystery of the quotient
Upon us all a little rain
Must fall, just a little rain?
Ooooh, yeah yeah yeah!

My Interpretation:alright, well, houses of the holy's album cover is based of the science fiction novel, childhoods end.

in it, one of the main charectors laments over how he, an alien named satan, will forever be tasked with introducing other life forms into a psychic hive mind that he him self may never be allowed to join.

thus, the song it self, is about sondora, the realization that everyones lives are as infinitely complex and unique as our own, and that just as much as they may be a stranger, or backdrop in our own lives, we are in theirs.

it is the sadness that we will never know each and every one of us.

the longing to be inexorably close, and touch everyone, to be one with everyone.

the cruel truth that the only way to be touched is to be within arms reach.

and that to get wet from being rained on could be concidered similer to being cast adrift, lost in the rain, or being marginalized while going through hardship, to be concidered not an individual going through personal experience, but a non descript entity, such as starving children in africa, rather then a specific person, starving to death.

specifically, it could be concidered to be about the sadness felt from loving someone that doesn't notice you enough, or wishing you could have met someone, or wondering if you were born in the right time, or wishing people could understand you, or that someone could have been your friend.

General Comment:Time is the ultimate judge of music. Will your kids, their kids connect to the message in this song? Will it rob them of all the distraction our lives have been assaulted by...just long enough to complete the message? Many bands have and will come and go...leaving little trails for future bands. Blue October may be the band that comes to mind after Led Zeppelin...when it comes to messages that transcend time...

    General Comment:quotient definition

The number obtained by dividing one number (the "numerator") by another (the "denominator"). If both numbers are rational then the result will also be rational.

a division of Lust & Love a realization, a division of what one thought love was, but finding real Love in someone else, a knowing, but still having a hard time parting with the person of lust love.

Dividing love, only physical to caring loving friendship, marriage....dividing concept, a second knowing of love.

Talk Talk, woman always want to talk, give me reasons why you love me, if you don't then are we just lust? a realization of just how cold lust love is.

I think this song can fit into a couple of situations.
personally I found this song, because a lost love, a passionate lover from 22 years ago came back to me. I married someone I wasn't passionate physical with, stayed married for 22 years, with no passion love. This old lover came back, yes we were together and I felt the passion again and almost left my husband for him, but the old lover proved once again, thats all we were, lust love. In away he saved my marrige, I found my second knowing of Love what is everlasting and found my way to passion love with my husband.

General Comment:This is, by far, the most beautiful rock ballad of all times.

Put it into that "time capsule" people bury to be found by someone 100 years ahead - the ones who find it will get respectful thougts about who we were in our times.

General Comment:Listening to this song for the first time left an ache that will probably never go away. It makes me almost wish I never embarked on this journey to get to know Led Zeppelin better.

General Comment:This is a total chill song. Reminds me of growing up in the South Bay Cali. A very happy song but very easy for me to slip away into another realm of deep thought.

General Comment:This is my favourite Led Zeppelin song. I wish I could pen down what the song means to me, how much i adore the lyrics, but English isnt my 1st language so my vocabulary is restricted to just this. The song speaks to me more on the grounds of a father daughter relationship. Despite the distance, heartaches, fights, the tumultuous relationship they have, love eventually brings them together again and heals their frail relationship. I think the song beautifully brings out in words and in music just how powerful a force love is.

General Comment: Well, it is simple. This song is about lost love, new love, and the loneliness it replaced.
Hence "This is the springtime of my loving; the second season I'm to know....." The singer lost his passion...and his love... "I watched the fire that grew so low...." His new love has enervated him...."You are the sunlight in my growing". OK? "So little warmth, I've felt before"..... He lost his love, his world had turned cold and dark and gray......She gave him sunlight and,,,,,,,,well c'mon people!!!!!!!! And.....
Emotions rise and fall, and, in any event, a little rain MUST fall. (Shit happens!!!) But in the end, his new love came and saved him. (Our intrepid hero! !!).......
I can relate to this song in a VERY real way. For 10 years now; so I have had a long time to think about it and put it into perspective. Anyhoo....keep loving the ZEP!!!!!!
Oh, and make sure you go on YouTube and look up videos for the "Band of Joy". It is a pre-Zeppelin Plant and Bonham group. Way cool...................BYE

General Comment:Agreed!! Definitely some damn beautiful piece of devil worship! haha! I haven't come across a Led Zeppelin song that I didn't absolutley love. Their songs just makes me feel something within me and makes everything better when nothing is going right. If everyone truly listened to their music, your lives would be better. It's beautiful. Unfortunately people are too worried about the "satanic lyrics" It's just ridiculous. If you're not listening to Zeppelin for that reason, then I just feel sorry for ya and it's definitely your loss!! Long live Zeppelin woooo!
