Everybody's Fool (Demo version) Lyrics
Perfect by Nature
Icons of self indulgence Just what we all need More lies about a world that Never was and never will be Have you no shame, don't you see me You know you've got everybody fooled Look, here she comes now Bow down and stare in wonder Oh, how we love you Too bad we didn't know she Never was and never will be You don't know how you've betrayed me And somehow you've got everybody fooled Some guy talking: "The dynamic of symmetrical social riots Can be summed together in broad statements, That what has become blueprint for all, And all have been reduced to the space of one" Never was and never will be You don't know how you've betrayed me And somehow you've got everybody fooled Never was and never will be You're not real and you can't save me Some how now you're everybodys fool |

This song is about posers, people who are just so fake and to one person it is glaringly obvious but no one else can seem to see it, bowing down to their icons of self-indulgence.

And I agree atleast about this one. The music sounds much better on this, spacier like old Evanescence compared to most fallen tracks.

Is there any way to submit corrections to songs cuz I know what that "some guy" is saying, and the song is not called "not Fallen version" lol, it's called Everybody's Fool 2001-2002 demo v.1 (or v.2... the lyrics are the same)
btw, the guy says something along the lines of this:
"The dynamic of symmetrical social riots
Can be summed together in broad statements,
That what has become blueprint for all,
And all have been reduced to the space of one"

No, the "No Flaws when you're pretending," line is replaced by "Too abd we didn't know she," on this version.

I Shall fix it. Thanks for informing me what it is.

"Without the mask
Where will you hide?
Can't find yourself
Lost in your lies"
Is replaced by the 'some guy talking' part. I like the Fallen version best, but the other two are good too.

"I know the truth now
I know who you are
And I don't love you anymore" maybe it's another version but i'm not sure...yeah i like this version better than the one on fallen

"Icons of self indulgence" They are icons of a "me first" attitude that capitalizes on satisfying oneself over the good of anyone else.
"More lies about a world that... Never was and never will be" That is not how the general public lives, the self indulgence portrayed by those people is not possible for the general public, and it "never was and never will be" real life.
To sum it all up: "You don't know how you've betrayed me" She found herself believing that the "icons of self indulgence" were portraying a life that she could attain, but was dismayed from the illusion when she found it "never was and never will be" possible for her to live like that.
I will note that the music video tells the story from the point of view of someone who is an "Icon of self indulgence", and she feels regret over perpetuating the lie that the general public can actually get away with that. Or maybe Im wrong, maybe her sorrow is a more personal, selfish reason, that she is not being true to herself, and she doesnt care about all the people that believe in the lie that "never was and never will be". I however stand by the small part of this theorem that it is in a broad sense over all that desire the self indulgent life just to find it is not possible in their situation and are betrayed.
Anyway, this is what makes sense to me, this theory fits with all the lines of the song.
