I wake up exhausted, it's not morning
It's back to sleep to re-dream me
We're alone and we're happy,
But there you are, angry with me
Are you alright?
I can stand up straight
Are you alright?
Can you get me off your mind?
I hated this city, before you came here
So let go, and move on
We're strangers, we're not friends
I hate this and I hate them
This city's exhausted and it's wound up,
Soon to be a place just filled up
And I found out that you're angry
And you're sorry you ever met me
Are you alright?
I can stand up straight
Are you alright?
Can you get me off your mind?
I am alright
I can stand up straight
Are you alright?
Can you get me off your mind?
I wake up exhausted, it's not morning
It's back to sleep to re-dream me
We're alone and we're happy,
But there you are, angry with me
Are you alright?
I can stand up straight
Are you alright?
I can get you off my mind
I am alright
I can stand up straight
Are you alright?
Can you get me off your mind?
Can you get me off your mind?
Can you get me off your mind?
Can you get me off your mind?
Can you get me off your mind?
It's back to sleep to re-dream me
We're alone and we're happy,
But there you are, angry with me
Are you alright?
I can stand up straight
Are you alright?
Can you get me off your mind?
I hated this city, before you came here
So let go, and move on
We're strangers, we're not friends
I hate this and I hate them
This city's exhausted and it's wound up,
Soon to be a place just filled up
And I found out that you're angry
And you're sorry you ever met me
Are you alright?
I can stand up straight
Are you alright?
Can you get me off your mind?
I am alright
I can stand up straight
Are you alright?
Can you get me off your mind?
I wake up exhausted, it's not morning
It's back to sleep to re-dream me
We're alone and we're happy,
But there you are, angry with me
Are you alright?
I can stand up straight
Are you alright?
I can get you off my mind
I am alright
I can stand up straight
Are you alright?
Can you get me off your mind?
Can you get me off your mind?
Can you get me off your mind?
Can you get me off your mind?
Can you get me off your mind?

"we're alone and we're happy but there you are angry with me"- she dreams that they're still friends/together but in reality the person is angry
"are you alright? i can't stand up straight. are you alright? can you get me off your mind?" she's asking sorta if the person is feeling the same as her by asking if the other person is alright but at the same time comparing it to her inability to stand up straight cos shes so weighted down. and the same with the "can you get me off your mind?"
"i hated this before you came here, so let go and move on. we're strangers, we're not friends. i hate this, and i hate them"- she person hated everything until she met them. but now they're so distant they're not friends at all, and are in fact complete strangers. she hates the situation and hates "them" as in everyone else for not understanding.
"and i find out that you're angry, and you're sorry you ever met me"- she's found out that whatever she did that was so wrong has made the other person so angry she wishes they'd never met.
basically she's realli realllli screwed up and now she can't stop thinking about it. thus the waking up exhausted.
pretty much the same as what every1 else said but i love it sooo much!!
love xoLexox
This song is about the writer dreaming (hence "redream me") and she dreams of her current relationship to be "happy" & it is happy only when her and her signifant other is alone. But reality hits in and her signifant other is angry with her..
The pre chorus states that "are you alright..can you get me off your mind" are you alright, without me in your life??
the writer is not okay without her lover in her life as it states.... "i cant stand up straight"
The second verse states that they should "let go" of each other and "move on" what they were living was a lie... "were strangers.." The writer "hates this" hates how reality sets in. I agree with ShamesonShames theres a force outside of them that caused this... (most likely their friends do not approve of their relationship...but when there ALONE everything is okay...or since tegan and sara are lesbian SOCIETY doesnt accept them and they hate it..."
The last verse states that the lover is sorry they ever met the writer...
I am confused about the "city" what do you guys think this symbolizes/means??
