Well let the geek in the pink take a stab at it
If you like the way I'm thinkin' baby wink at it
I may be skinny at times but I'm fat full 'a rhymes
Pass me the mic and I'm a grab at it a
Isn't it delicious crazy way that I'm kissin'
Cause baby listen to this don't want to miss it while it's hittin'
Sometimes you gotta fit in to get in
But don't ever quit so soon I'm gonna let you win but see

I don't care what you might think about me
You can vibe without me if you want
I could be the one to take you home
Baby I could rock the night alone
If we never get down it wouldn't be a let down
But sugar don't forget what you already know
I could be the one to turn you out
We could be the talk across the town
Don't judge me by the color, confuse it for another
You might regret what you let slip away

I'm the geek in the pink pink pink
I'm the geek in the pink yeah

Well this relationship fodder don't mean to bother nobody
But cupid's automatic musta fired multiple shots at her
Because she fall in love too often that's what the matter
At least I talk about it keep a pattern of flattery and a
She was staring through the doorframe
Eyeing me down like already a bad boyfriend
Well she can get her toys outta the drawer then
Cause I ain't comin' home, I don't need that attention, see

I don't care what you might think about me
You'll get by without me if you want
I could be the one to take you home
Baby we could rock the night alone
If we never get down it shouldn't be the let down
But sugar don't forget what you already know
I could be the one to turn you out
You could be the talk across the town
Don't judge it by the color, confuse it for another
You might regret what you let slip away

I am more than you're thinking
Hey look at me go
From hero to zero
Oh take it from a geek like me
I can save you from unoriginal dumb-dums
Who wouldn't care if you com...plete him or not

So what I've got a short attention span
A coke in my hand
Because I'd rather have the afternoon, relax and understand
Mm hip hop and flip flops it don't stop with the light rock
A shot to mock you kinda puts me in the tight spot
The hype is nothing more than hoo-hah so I'm
Developing a language and I'm calling it my own
So take a peek into the speaker and you'll see what I mean
That on the other side the grass is greener

I don't care what you might think about me
You'll get by without me if you want
I could be the one to take you home
Baby we could rock the night alone
If we never get down it wouldn't be the let down
But sugar don't forget what you already know
I could be the one to turn you out
We could be the talk across the town
Don't judge it by the color, confuse it for another
You might regret what you let slip away

I'm the geek in the pink pink pink
I'm the geek in the pink yeah
I'm the geek in the pink
All y'all it's the new color for fall

General Comment:I think this song says "Hey, I'm awesome. If you don't pick me that's your loss." Boo yah. So sassy and to the point. Love Mr. AZ.

General Comment:While this song is certainly "about" a multitude of things (laundry washing, acceptance, sexuality, etc)

It's based on a time when he was involved in an impromptu recording session in Miami with beatmaker Scott Storch.

"I showed up at the studio and we don't even know what we're gonna do," Mraz recalled. "Then Scott came up with this crazy loop and the room just became filled with MCs that just started flowing. And here I am, this skinny little white kid wearing this pink polo shirt, just feeling totally awkward. I probably looked like the biggest nerd in there."

General Comment:This song has a lot of double entendres. Just "geek in the pink" itself is an innuendo. Everything about this song has innuendo coming out the hizzahhh. Still as funky as fresh though.

Once again with this one, JMraz accomplishes the impossible -- he can be white and kinda geeky but still do an ass-ripping rap.

My Opinion:So when i heard this song before looking up the lyrics my first take on it was,

jason plays the 'geek in the pink' kinda guy that is dorky, and chases the kind of girls that only go for 'bad guys'. like when he says,

"I don't care what you might think about me
You'll get by without me if you want
I could be the one to take you home
Baby we could rock the night alone
If we never get down it shouldn't be the let down
But sugar don't forget what you already know
I could be the one to turn you out
You could be the talk across the town
Don't judge it by the color, confuse it for another
You might regret what you let slip away"

--- like that verse to mean just says, yeah i may be a geek, and not the bad guy, but i wont let you down, and i can show you that i can be the one to treat you how you need to be treated. also, saying like, it wont be a let down on his part because he is the one with all the confidence and he knows what he wants, maybe it is her but if she is going to be stupid and stay with those kind of guys are always going to let her down then whats the point of wasting his time, he will know when to move on. ---
that's what i get from this song.

General Comment:come to think of it I really think this song is about oral sex "delicious crazy way that I'm kissin" which is where all the candy/sweet/oral fixation imagery comes in.

Also I think when he says "a shot to mock you puts me in a tight spot" he means when he insults her bf he is insulting himself because (HE IS HER BF). Before this he says "She fall in love too often". So if his gf falls in love too often that kind of make him look stupid.

General Comment:Geek in the pink in my opinion IS in part about an interracial relationship, Mostly this is because "geek in the PINK" (PINK=WHITE GUY) (DUH). Why else would he brag to this girl that "You could be the talk across the town/don't judge it by the color" Also, in the beginning of the song he is talking to someone who is very obviously an African American guy.

The "its laundry day" part can mean the perfect excuse to go "commando" which makes sense considering he refers to sex throughout the song. Also, maybe this has a double meaning in that he is saying it's laundry day for her in that she should choose him when he would otherwise be an unlikely choice. I.e. choosing a "pink shirt" because its the only clean one is like her choosing him (when she would usually prefer a black guy). Also I think when he keeps talking about "zero to hero" "coke in my hand" he *may* being paying lip service to the idea that black men are more well endowed. Also I think "coke" in my hand talks about the interracial aspect again because coke = black. Pink = white.

The song contradicts itself in that he goes from talking about this girl who isn't willing to give him the time of day, then talks about a girl he is in a relationship with who thinks he is "already a bad boyfriend". Further, he talks about how "its ok if we never get down", but the whole song is about convincing her to go home with him and "rock the night alone" and how he will care if he "cum-pletes her" (or not). I think when he keeps talking about how good the sex will be its due to the fact she is black and black men are usually considered more skilled? He does say the "hype is nothing more than hoo-ha so, i'm developing a language and i'm calling it my own" Here he may be saying the hype about black guys is crap, I am a white guy and I am unique and skilled. Also, I think the part where he says "I may be skinny at times, but i"m fat full of rhymes" He is both talking about a white guy singing this kind of music "I may be white (skinny) but I have soul (full of rhymes)" can also have the double meaning of "I may be white but I am just as "skilled"" This I am white, but I have soul also applies to the lyric "i'm developing a language and I'm calling it my own"

Also, this may be a girl he has already slept with because he seems to be bragging about his sexual prowess and he says "I don't care what you might think about me/but, sugar, don't forget what you already know" He may be saying "I don't care if you think i'm a "geek", but you know I make you..."
But, when he sings this song live he twists it on some verses to say "the geek in YOUR pink" so this complicates the interracial interpretation of the song.

ALSO did anyone notice he talks about candy and sweets a lot in the song "coke in my hand" "Unoriginal dum-dums"Isn't "it delicious crazy way that I'm kissin'" and he calls her "sugar" repeatedly. Maybe he is comparing sex and candy as forms of self indulgence.

Also there are more clothing metaphors "pattern of flattery", "out of the drawer" he mentions color again when he says "grass is greener"

General Comment:Yeah, I'm not sure but the "laundry day" thing in the beginning makes me think he washed something red with some white - Geek in the Pink?

    General Comment:

When he played this at the Buffalo show last April, he introduced as his "Chris Richardson cover song". (Chris Richardson sang this during last season's American Idol). I almost died of laughter. :-P

yeah I saw when chris did it, and he totally blew the "Who wouldn't care if you com...plete him or not" he changed it to "who wouldnt care if you come with me or not,"...yeah lame, I know :D

The beauty of this song is the inneundo laced in every line, Chris's "version" totally ruins the song my opinion. I just wanted to slap him and say, "leave well enough a alone! You ain't now Jason Mraz!" LOL
