Ain't It A Shame Lyrics
Ain't it a shame to go fishing on a Sunday, ain't it a shame
Ain't it a shame to go fishing on a Sunday, ain't it a shame
Ain't it a shame to go fishing on a Sunday, when you got Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Oh, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, ain't it a shame

Ain't it a shame to have a drink on a Sunday, ain't it a shame
Ain't it a shame to have a drink on a Sunday, ain't it a shame
Ain't it a shame to have a drink on a Sunday, when you got Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Oh, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, ain't it a shame

Ain't it a shame to beat your wife on a Sunday, ain't it a shame
Ain't it a shame to beat your wife on a Sunday, ain't it a shame
Ain't it a shame to beat your wife on a Sunday, when you got Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
Oh, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, ain't it a shame

Arghhhhhh!
Arghhhhhh!
Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Oooooooh!

Ain't it a shame!
Ain't it a shame!
Ain't it a shame!
Ain't it a shame!
Ain't it a shame!
Shame, shame, shame!

Ledbelly cover. I kinda like this song once Kurt picks up the pace towards the end.

It is very obvious. Gospel Song. Sunday is holy day. It is very cool to hear Nirvana's version (I never heard Leadbelly's version anyway).

How Christians do all of this shit EXCEPT on Sundays... how every other day is free day to drink, go fisihng and even beat your wife, as long as it isnt Sunday. Just my hypothesis ^_^

im confused cause leadbelly also sang "they hung him on a cross" which to me doesn't sound near as sarcastic towards religion as this one. Is ladbelly a gospel band or just the opposite?

Leadbelly was a blues and folk singer back in the 40s.

I agree with the masked magician....I don't think the song is anti-religion, it's about how insincere people can be.

yeah another example of how atheists (and christians) manipulate the meaning of the song to try to get their age old points across. no this song is not about "fucking god" at all. this song is about those who go to church on sundays or easter and christmas and sing and go amen! then just go back home and sin and dont think twice about it, which wouldnt make me mad if you just sin but when you claim to be a christian and sin so blatantly YOU ARE A HYPOCRITE. and i think most people who have ever heard anything jesus ever said probably knows how he felt about hypocrites. he preached about them more than anything. this song doesnt only apply to christian hypocrites, but all hypocrites. very good song and sounds so mocking, which is perfect. thats all i got to say about that.

THIS SONG ROCKS! Its about how people do stuff on sundays when your supposed to just go to chuch and home. Yet i know nobody that does that its strange to hear Kurt singing about beating your wife as he was a strong pro-feminist person.

I'm not sure about the posted lyrics. Is it really an
"Arghhhhhh!" ??? Maybe it is an "Arghhhhhh?!?" ???
Or an "Ahhhhhrghgaaahhh" ??? And the "Oooooooh!"??? Well i think Kurt sings/articulates a
"Neeeaaaahhhh" after the "Ahhhhhrghgaaahhh" and than he goes over to a "Mmooooohhhhahhhh".
Maybe someone can fix that.

PS:I gonna go steal a bicycle now! Please dont try to stop me, i made my decision!

NIRVANA SUCKS!!!!

haha , it's all a matter of opinion, and whatever your opinion is, keep it to yourself unless you have actual thoughts or intelligent points to back it up...not just prejudices.

Yeah, I'm actually a very big fan of Nirvana, and I love this song. It's always been one of my favourite tracks from the (very expensive) With The Lights Out set.

What's funny is that, if you think about it, Nirvana is a very mediocre band, except they're worth taking time aside to listen. Seriously! Most of the songs sound the same, Kurt Cobain CAN hit high notes, but he isn't a good singer; it's just that we can relate to the music, and we like it for that reason. I've put much thought into this, and since I listen to Death Metal, I also listen to one of the crappiest genres of music, and am willing to admit that, and also that I love it. Think.
