There is a monster in my room we discussed movies over coffee
And I think it's quite absurd he got hungry,
licked his lips, shook my hand, and tried to eat me.
And it's getting on my nerves
Don't you think it's strange that I've been reading,
and I still don't know how to kill you
I'm trying hard not to meet you when I'm sleeping,
still don't know how to kill you

I've got tickets to show I know no one will be attending
And think that you should go
I don't mind your complexion or the fact you are bleeding
It's just the way that it goes

Don't you think it's strange that I've been reading
and I still don't know how to kill you
I'm trying hard not to meet you when I'm sleeping,
still don't know how to kill you

I don't mind the shape your head is in
I've just got to watch you explode

General Comment: I think it's a nightmare. A monster in his room, the discussing movies over coffee seems like it won't go away, arbitrary conversation to stick around. Eventually, the nightmare wanted to consume him, "licked his lips...tried to eat me", and he cannot get rid of it no matter what he does. "Don't you think it's strange that I've been reading.", the narrator is looking back into to whatever he got the nightmare from, trying to move further into this fear he has and attempt to find a stop to it. "I still don't know how to kill you", whatever he does the nightmare becomes a reoccuring one. "I've got tickets to a show no one will be attending", he wants this fear to be gone but not to take anyone else over as well. The final lines minus the chorus he may have succeeded in "killing" it, he is just waiting for it's head to explode so he can rest easily knowing this nightmare is gone.

General Comment:Going along with my post on The Seduction, saying that I Am Hollywood is a concept album, I feel this song is the obsessor having almost a mutiple personality disorder. Literally talking and fighting with the devil inside him. Wanting to rid himself of it but still being unable to.

General Comment:Wait... how is this done in classic rock style? I mean, you got the rest of it pretty awesome, but... Yeah. He Is Legend is a "'music' band, or a 'band' band"(as they said themselves), not an explicitly Christian band, all though they're Christian.
Even though those are probably the right meanings, I still like to think of it as reading to get something out of your head(kill it), or reading the Bible to get rid of Satan(either way actually :D)

General Comment:Sorry to double post, but I wasn't sure if it would allow me to type so much in one posting. Also, I apologize for a few grammatical errors in my previous post, I got lazy and didn't scan it before I hit submit :P.

The second idea I have is kind of like staplesmcjebus' interpretation. "There is a monster in my room we discussed movies over coffee, and I think it's quite absurd." The monster could symbolize a Major Label trying to sign a new artist. He's just starting to get out there and they want to snatch him up just as he's about to go big. Being from L.A. myself and also being apart of the local music scene, I don't know if you could call this a local phenomenon, but deals will often happen over a cup of coffee in the local Starbucks or whatever :P. The artist and label rep discuss movies over coffee.

"He got hungry, licked his lips, shook my hand, and tried to eat me. And it's getting on my nerves." The label rep finally cuts it with the small talk and moves in for the kill so to speak. He's trying to pressure the artist to sign with them. The artist has been getting this from many labels lately, and he's annoyed by it.

"Don't you think it's strange that I've been reading, and still I don't know how to kill you." The artist has been reading the headlines about himself, he doesn't know what to do about his impending fame.

"I'm trying hard not to meet you when I am sleeping, and still I don't know how to kill you." The artist doesn't want to make the wrong decision, and he's trying not to make the decision prematurely or before he knows everything about the situation. He doesn't want to sign onto a label when he is ignorant eg meet you when I am sleeping.

"I've got tickets to show that I know no one will be attending, and I think that you should go." He invites a label rep to one of his shows to check him out.

"I don't mind your complexion or the fact you are bleeding It's just the way that it goes." He's going to sign onto a dying label/small independent label.

"I don't mind the shape your head is in .I've just got to watch you explode" He doesn't care that the label isn't the best. He just wants to see where everything take off.
Weird I know, but I don't it's THAT farfetched :P. Incredible song though, more bands need to bring back real Rock N' Roll.

General Comment:For the Christian thing, they have Christian members, but they don't believe it's their place to Bible Thump, so they don't do praise music. Not explicitly anyway. I don't see why people get so offfended over Jesus Rockers, but I digress, back to the lyrics.

I have pretty much two ideas of what the song may be about, and I'm going to take a page from both SnareRushJunkie and staplesmcjebus. If you have read I Am Legend, the song fits really well with the book. It's done in a classic rock style and the book takes place in the 70s, which strikes me, but this may not have been intentionally. "There's a monster in my room we discussed movies over coffee, And I think it's quite absurd" Robert(The Main Character) unknowingly takes in a vampiress named Ruth. They discuss their lives over a coffee. The whole time Robert feels akward and in the back of his mind, he knows she is a vampire. "He got hungry, licked his lips, shook my hand, and tried to eat me. And it's getting on my nerves." Ruth ends up attacking Neville and he is angered and saddened by it. "Don't you think it's strange that I've been reading, and still I don't know how to kill you." Robert is constantly researching ways to kill the actual virus that causes vampirism. "I'm trying hard not to meet you when I am sleeping and still I don't know how to kill you." The vampires come out at night and congregate outside his house. He feels the urge to give up and go outside to be consumed by the vampires, but he tries hard to fight it. "I've got tickets to show that I know no one will be attending, and think that you should go." Could be when he invites Ruth into his living room to listen to records with him, and also the lonliness he feels of being and presumably Ruth being the last humans on earth. "I don't mind your complexion or the fact you are bleeding It's just the way that it goes." He finds out Ruth is indeed infected and her tan makeup rubs off and reveals her to be a pale vampiress. But Robert says that it's okay, and vows to find a cure for her.

General Comment:I'm not really going to contribute anything right now...

But I just read the first post, and just because they are on a Christian label doesn't mean all of their songs have underlying christian meanings. In fact, I don't think ANY of their songs preach about God or anything, implicitly or explicitly.
