Lyrics for Down in a Rabbit Hole as interpreted by Mopnugget

Down in a Rabbit Hole Lyrics
I heard you fell into a rabbit hole
Covered yourself up in snow
Baby, tell me, where'd you go
For days and days?

Did they make you stay up all night?
Did they paint your face that pastey white?
You're thirsty but your appetite
Gets chased away

Sun turns us to stone
It's a cloudy day
But we still can't go home
I've been out that cellar door
Until we see the moon
We're invisible

No one ever takes the garbage out
A neighbor kid gets dared to touch the house
He runs back only to announce
"There's no one home"

Because we paint the foil with the flame
Smear the soda, taste butane
For every fear that can't be named
To calm you down

Your heart starts skipping steps
So you're farther gone
Than you might expect
If your thoughts should turn to death
Gotta stomp them out
Like a cigarette

"cellar door" is supposed to be the most pleasing sounding phrase in the english language, according to tolkein.

This album refers to death..a lot.
Then again, the title of the album reflects that.
This song reminds me of childhood, especially the touching the door of the forbidden house part.
Although, I think that house may be symbolizing death. And the fact that no one's home makes it even worse..because then there's that fear of the unknown.
I don't know. It makes sense to me.

The song its self has a very eerie sound to it. I like it..a lot. But there's not a song on this cd that I don't like.

side note: I agree that its down IN a rabbit hole.<3

I'm afraid it is Down IN a Rabbit Hole. I'm sure that the track listing on the Saddle Creek Records site is a lot more accurate than someone who thinks they know what the song is called =/

i think this song is about speed....i mean look at the lyrics how could it not be...

i heard you fell into a rabbit hole
covered yourself up in snow
baby tell me where'd you go
for days and days

covered yourself up in snow..........speed
and people do it for days sometimes

did they make you stay up all night?
did they paint your face that pastey white
you're thirsty but your appetite gets chased away

obviously speed will make you stay up all night and you won't have an appetite

cause we paint the foil with the flame
smear the soda, taste butane
for every fear that can't be named
to calm you down

smokin

your heart starts skippin' steps
so you're farther gone
then you might expect

your heart beats like crazy when ur on it...

i dno maybe im just looking too far into the drug thing... probably caus ive been up for 3 days on something simaler.... lol

It is maria taylor singing at the end. Just got both albums this week. If you pre-order at saddle creek you get them early!
I'd say this song is about someone who has became dependent on drugs and have just shut themselves away.
I really can't fault this album.

great song, great record. i am also reminded of donnie darko, with some of the imagery. for the record, the drug reference is freebasing, right? hence the "soda" (baking soda + cocaine = crack)?

Hehe It makes me think of Donnie Darko too! The whole rabbit thing also.
Oh and I don't know whether this song really is about drugs? How can you be so sure?

this song is about a cocain addiction, in the begining it talks about being covered up in snow, refering to cocaine, then also next it talks about losing your appitite and cocaine makes you lose your appittie thats why addicts are so skinny and then what borrowed tune said with the crack thing is true i think and then the ending of the song is about ODing i think becayuse it says your heart skips steps and then thoughts of dying

this song is definitely about drugs, more specifically cocaine and/or methamphetamine (speed). don't just take into account the lyrics, but the title.. down in a rabbit hole.. what other famous books/movies does someone fall down a hole while on drugs? *cough* alice in wonderland *cough* just a thought
