Where do you go with your broken heart in tow
What do you do with the left over you
And how do you know when to let go
Where does the good go
Where does the good go

Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive
Look me in the heart and tell me you won't go
Look me in the eye and promise no love's like our love
Look me in the heart and un break broken, it won't happen

It's love that breaks the seal of always thinking you would be
Real happy and healthy, strong and calm
Where does the good go
Where does the good go

Where do you go when you're in love and the world knows
How do you live so happily while I am sad and broken down
What do you say it's up for grabs
Now that you're on your way down
Where does the good go
Where does the good go

Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive
Look me in the heart and tell me you won't go
Look me in the eye and promise no love's like our love
Look me in the heart and un break broken, it won't happen

It's love that breaks the seal of always thinking you would be
Real happy and healthy, strong and calm
Where does the good go
Where does the good go

Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive
Look me in the heart and tell me you won't go
Look me in the eye and promise no love's like our love
Look me in the heart and un break broken, it won't happen

it's love that breaks the seal of always thinking you would be
Real, happy and healthy, strong and calm,
Where does the good go
Where does the good go

My Interpretation:I know that this is supossed to be a break-up song, but I find that, for me at least, I hear a kind of internal confliction. "Look me in the eye and tell me you don't find me attractive, look me in the heart and tell me that you won't go." That feeling of being broken and not wanting to get into another relationship, but still desperately craving affection, but knowing that the person probably doesn't feel the same... I don't know, maybe I'm making this fit my life too much, but that's just how I relate to it.

I love this song so much, it's gotten me through a lot. Tegan and Sara are fantastic.

General Comment:I was at a Tegan and Sara concert and they said that this song was about them not having their drivers' licenses and being able to drive. Thought that was really strange...

General Comment:This song is pretty obviously a breakup song... but I really think whats important about it is that it is reflecting on a relationship, all of which have both good and bad parts, and wondering literally where all the good things go when its over. After a breakup, especially if 2 people really loved each other, they tend to HATE each other and feel really bitter. where does the good go? how can you love someone and then after you break up can there be so much ugliness?
More importantly, i think the song is about that moment when your partner fully resolves that its over, especially when you haven't.

"look me in the heart and unbreak broken, it wont happen
its love that leaves and breaks the seal"

in my experience, theres this moment when you break up with someone you love and have been dating for years, and after all the fights you've had you never actually expect the other person to finally decide that it's over. You just want to make up like you do every other time you fight. But something has changed in their heart- the love has left and no matter how much you beg them to to forgive you or get over it like every time... something has changed and you have to accept that for them, it's over.

General Comment:This song was seriously the theme song of my break up a few years ago... It's awful when the other person seems so happy and got over you so easily while your left thinking, "how the f did this even happen?!"

My Interpretation:I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this song makes me think that she's watching someone die of cancer who is putting on a strong face and acting cheerful.

It's love that leaves and breaks the seal
Of always thinking you would be
Real happy and healthy, strong and calm

I think she is wondering "Where does the good go?" in a sense that she's asking where the life before the cancer went. I love this song. (:

General Comment:To me, this song is about what you do in a relationship after things stop being fun and easy. This song, again for me in my situation, is the work that goes into a relationship. When the honeymoon is over and you and the other person have to try to fight and maintain what you have. So the "good" in "Where Does The Good Go?" is the good, easy part of a relationship being over with.

Song Meaning:I haven't seen anyone post my particular interpretation of it yet, so I'll share my opinion. I think the songs about a breakup, yes. When you start a relationship, you have all these positive feelings, and general optimism about the future, don't you? But as the relationship comes to a close, that optimism disappears. You often end up almost despising someone you once loved so fondly. You never think about that in the beginning. One may find himself/herself wondering, "What ever happened to all the good feelings and love I had about this person? I'm still attracted to them, and I'll always love them, but I feel so trapped by this relationship, and I've lost sight of all the happy aspects of it." So, to me, "where does the good go" means "what ever happened to all the great feelings we used to harbor about one another?" And "always thinking you would be real happy, healthy, strong, and calm" is the kind of optimism she finds she's lost, and she longs for it again. It also seems like the other person is having and easier time accepting their drifting apart, hence the "how do you live so happily while I'm so sad and broken down?" Hope I've shed new light on the song. Long live Tegan and Sara! :)
