okay it is "if you could see the truth within a perfect harmony" it says strength in the lyric book HOWEVER.

yeah...thats VERY true..and i know cause I LOVE THIS SONG! there are so many things in this song that a LOVELY! its not the best...i'll admit...but its much more edgier! :) and it doesnt include piano...so thats different! :) but LOVE IT! :) this song is most diffenetly about being kinda predictable...having a predictable life...its like "this is my life..this is all its is, him lying to me...breaking promises" i love the part " Now I'm thinkin' I've been livin'
the fantasy of your sweet smile " i know what it means...it means "fake smiles" -*the fantasy of your sweet smile* and i REALLY enjoy this song! :)

Well, I've been in a situation that this song describes...not with a boy but with some of my girl friends. The boy in this song's lying about how he loves her etc etc and thinks she'll believe him but she doesn't. Great song.....needless to say haha...

badsrx7: there are many faults in the lyric book, the nessaholics have come to believe it's done on purpose as to think that the album was very organic, not over produced.

maybe the "mistakes in the lyrics" are because it was typed kind of early and maybe she changed her mind about what she wanted to say in the song. When you put Harmonium into the computer, there is a "making of Harmonium" thing you can watch. She is singing Who's To Say and instead of saying "mother don't tell me friends are the ones that i lose cos they'd bleed before you sometimes family are the one's you chose." she changed friends and family around. Maybe she just changed the lyrics a bit later on.

Oh, and, \'Sad as blue and blue as only, you could cast the color on me.\' I think that line has a very poetic melody to it when she sings it...

one of vanessa's limited number of good songs, no offense to those who don't agree with me. i think the lyrics are awesome (the english part) but i've always wanted to noe- wut does "c'est la vie" mean? i agree with blueoilpaints about the last line. its really catchy.

"C'est la vie" does literally translate to "this is life," but it's often used like "well, that's life" is used in English.

I know some of Vanessa's song have a hidden "sexual" meaning..I really think that this is one of them.

It seems to me that the guy in this song is using her for sex.

"i've been taking what you're giving"..she knows that he's a jerk and that she shouldn't be treated this way..but if it's the only way she can have this time with him, she' s more than willing to take it.

"now I'm thinking I've been living, the fantasy of your sweet smile" the only thing she holds on to are the good moments..his smile is a fantasy to her adn she wishes she could see it more often than the "intimate" times..those few sweet little things is what she thrives on despite all the wrong doing..she overlooks it

and..no offense to anybody out there, but "boy you swallow...." sounds like a bj..
that's just what a few people have told me after hearing the song...that verse sounds like a definite double-meaning.

"oh, say you..." The girl knows that she is his "perfect little sugarbride"-she is so fragile and beautiful..and easy to break..one wrong word and she is destroyed because she has her heart so set on this guy and the person she wants him to be. she knows she's being played with, but doesn't care.

this song to me seems that while the guy thinks he's getting away with mistreating her, he doesn't realize that she's only playing him back, hence "boy you swallow truth like honey, as you pile your lies upon me, sweet and mooth as it goes down"

Love this song. The lyrics illustrate a double feeling to me. Someone used her. He mistreated her and lied to her and she let him, but now things changed. He used to make her blue, sad as only he could make her, but now she's stronger. She crawled from under his reign and now she's free. But she experiences that freedom isn't always easier. In the "Oh say you, say me"-part she admits sometimes she's willing to accept the mistreatement because she's lonely and still loves him. Maybe it's a very subjective interpretation, sorry for that. By the way, I'm totally lost when it comes to: "Boy you swallow truth like honey" and "Oh if you could see the truth within a perfect harmony" ...

I believe that line "Oh if you could see the truth within a perfect harmony" is actually "our harmony"

And, I think it means that the relationship looks perfect on the outside, the "perfect harmony" that the outsider sees. But, he lies and mistreats her. the "truth"
