If it hurts,
Kiss it better
You wear skirts,
I write nice letters
Never said nothing with flowers
Though we always talked for hours
And it seems to get much colder
When you cry on your own shoulder
And we know the show
Must go on
Guess I know
I guess I'll throw on

Some Jefferson Airplane
I'm trapped and I am enclosed
But I won't complain
I'll open all the windows
Jefferson airplane
I'm trapped and I am enclosed
But I won't complain
I'll open all the windows

'Cause when it's colder
I feel much better
When I cry on my own shoulder
I'll just throw on a sweater and go

And I'll go to undergo a change of heart, a change of clothes
And when I'm home, I think I'll go eat cereal and stare out the window

I'll make the calls
You cover your ears
Niagra falls
Still flows on new year's
I will save
Your plunging neck-line
Kiss your face
You try to deck mine
If I behave it's going to cost him
Stop the rave in downtown boston
And we know the show
Must go on
Guess I know
I guess I'll throw on

Some Jefferson Airplane
I'm trapped and I am enclosed
But I won't complain
I'll open all the windows
Jefferson airplane
I'm trapped and I am enclosed
But I won't complain
I'll open all the windows

'Cause when it's colder
I feel much better
When I cry on my own shoulder
I'll just throw on a sweater and go

And I'll go to undergo a surgery to purge me of this lonely mood
And my ego, the status quo, provides me with a decent attitude
And I'll go to undergo a change of heart, a change of clothes
And when I'm home, I'll think I'll go eat cereal and stare out the window

'Cause you confused me more than anyone
An adjustment has begun
To let me feel the desperate need to leave what we undid undone
And maybe you could sympathize
With the bags under my eyes
And we'll see the signs are saying that we have used up all our (tries)
Try to be a better person
To be a better friend
To be a better son

He tries to be a better someone
That understands the difference
And that he can't show all the people all the things that really mean as much as he could (feel)
Feels like I don't remember
Ever being this tired (before)
Before now my eyes were closed to all of the beauty in this world

Jefferson Airplane
I'm trapped and I am enclosed
But I won't complain
I'll open all the windows
Jefferson airplane
I'm trapped and I am enclosed
But I won't complain
I'll open all the windows

'Cause when it's colder
I feel much better
When I cry on my own shoulder
I'll just throw on a sweater and go

And I'll go to undergo a surgery to purge me of this lonely mood
And my ego, the status quo, provides me with a decent attitude
And I'll go to undergo a change of heart, a change of clothes
And I'll go, oh yes, I'll go and hope the new me shows so everybody knows
That I've found myself able to fly away without magic feathers or Jefferson aeroplanes
I've got with me all that I need

My Interpretation:I think that the singer is in love with this girl and would do anything for her. A "Jefferson Airplane" is the term used when you're smoking a joint and you get to the end and it's so hot you need to use sticks to hold it. "Jefferson Airplane" is also the name of an old band that kept changing their name and style to fit in with what the popular audiences wanted. If I'm not mistaken, they changed from "Jefferson Airplane" to "Jefferson Starship" to "Starship", but none of the bands under any title were successful. They changed band members and styles and names but couldn't please anyone. I think this song is sort of saying like he's trying so hard, but theres nothing left to hold onto so he's moving on. He loves this girl, but she doesn't notice him. He thinks the world of her but can't understand why ('cause you confuse me more than anyone). He wants to change and be the guy she wants (and I'll go to undergo a change of heart a change of clothes), just like the band "Jefferson Airplane" did, but he's still lonely (and I'll go to undergo a surgery to purge me of this lonely mood). He's not done trying though. Eventually, he moves on (before now, my eyes were closed to all the beauty in this world). She'll always be a part of him, and he'll always be lonley (i think i'll go eat cereal and stare out the window) but he's decided not to change for her. He's sort of wallowing in his lonliness waiting for the world to change for him. This song has such a deep meaning and most people don't understand how to think like Matt Thiessen, which is probably why this song is always very low on their iTunes charts. If you take the time to really think about and embrace the song, you'll find such a deep passion that Matt Thiessen has for music. It's pretty brilliant. This song (and this band) is my favorite.

General Comment:This song is fantastic. When you're still trying to get over someone and you feel kinda lonely, this is the
perfect song to listen to. Whether you're a guy OR a girl. I'm pretty much living off this song right now.

General Comment:I believe this is song still relates to God, look at the last five lines. 'I hope the new me shows' clearly means that he's accepted Christ and hope that it shows. And the last three lines says that he needs nothing but God. So here's my take- he had a relationship that wound up with a bad ending. feeling lonely, he started to go back and forth, until he found God, and realisewd that was all he needed. And of course, it's got a fun ending.

General Comment:I believe the occurrence of "Jefferson Airplane" is related with their song "Somebody to Love", however you'd like to tie it in with whichever scenario, is dealing with his search to find someone "to love". Whether its a breakup leaving him alone or developing a relationship with his friend, I think either way it largely deals with that very song that like everyone says, he's lonely, and wants someone. By the conclusion it's assumed that he no longer is looking or simply found acceptance. Great song, very interested in all of your interpretations.

General Comment:I always thought that line about Niagra Falls was jus saying that the world still moves on, despite what's happening to him.

General Comment:Yeah this was always my favorite song from that album because of the oddity of the lyrics. But i was wondering, does anyone know what the meaning of 'Niagara falls still flows on new years" is? All I can think of is that he means he's always alone on new years (usually you kiss someone at midnight) and therefore he cries (niagara falls is often a metephor for crying alot). Anyone else see that?

General Comment:well youre right rycho626 and so is everyone else...consider this: he turned to drugs and things like the rave in downtown boston after a serious break up. but he realizes it isnt worth it. thats why it seems to make no sense. and im not saying matt did that, he wouldnt but thats what the song is about

General Comment:I'd rather not think of this as a breakup song.
Considering the title, and the lyrics, the majority of the song seems to be a mishmash of odd lyrics that don't really fit together... much like the surreal and psychedelic lyrics of bands like Jefferson Airplane. In the end, though, during the last stanza i think they're trying to say that they're able to get by without things that give fake highs (aka drugs or "jefferson airplanes") and "got with them all that they need" (God, friends, faith, etc)

General Comment:I don't know if it's about a breakup. It could be about a friend that he likes, but he doesn't think she likes him. Because they're such good friends, he's afraid of doing anything to screw up their friendship, so he's "never said nothing with flowers", even though they always "talked for hours".

It sounds like she cries on his shoulder, but he can't tell her that he likes her, so he only has his own shoulder to cry on. He's "trapped and enclosed" by his feelings and their friendship. All he wants is to spend time with her, so he hides what he feels, throws on a sweater and goes.

But when he gets home, all he wants to do is eat cereal to comfort himself and stare out the window, thinking of her.

He wants to change into the kind of guy she likes, hence all the stuff about surgery.

He's protective of her, saving her "plunging neckline", telling her to skip the rave. But she ignores him, only having eyes for other guys.

He still can't tell her how he feels, so he'll just tag along with her and not say anything because the show must go on as it has been, so they can keep their friendship.
