I've got a cupboard with cans of food
Filtered water, and pictures of you
And I'm not coming out until this is all over

And I'm looking through the glass
Where the light bends at the cracks
And I'm screaming at the top of my lungs
Pretending the echoes belong to someone
Someone I used to know

And we become silhouettes
When our bodies finally go

I want to walk through the empty streets
With something constant under my feet
But all the news reports recommended I stay indoors

Because the air outside will make
Our cells divide at an alarming rate
Until our shells simply cannot hold all our insides in
And that's when we'll explode
And it won't be a pretty sight

And we'll become silhouettes
When our bodies finally go

General Comment:of course this song is a cover, for those who are looking it up even though the bar at the top of the window says (Postal Service cover) ;) but this is an EXCELLENT cover coming from someone who loves the Shins and the Postal Service.

    General Comment:Personally I prefer this song than the original. I mean, I love The Postal Service, but I just love this version of the song so much more. ^^;

    General Comment:Antifia, lol. That's what I thought :D

I just listened to the Postal Service song and I prefer the Shins's version. It has a 'what-the-hell-I-don't-care'-atmosphere to it and that really fits the song. I like the one from the Postal Service too and I know it's their song and stuff, but it's not as carefree as the other one.

General Comment:I can't get this song out of my head! It feels like when i'm 60 i will still be singing this.
BUT, it's a very very good song.. so i don't have anything against it.
    Love it.

General Comment:this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. I agree with mirandaetc in which lyrics shouldn't drive your feelings for a song. Mercer's contrast of Ben's lyrics pertaining to nucear fallout with a cheerful guitar riff only make the song that much more enjoyable. This is a damn happy tune and one hell of a cover song.

General Comment:The Shins version of this song is way better than the Postal Service original. Not that the original was bad, all it really needs is some guitar which the Shins added. Same goes for Iron & Wine's cover of Such Great Hights.

General Comment:I don't think lyrical content should be the sole factor that dictates how a song makes you feel in the first place.
That being said, I think both versions are phenomenal in their own respects. Although I find myself listening to this one more than The Postal Service's.

General Comment:I think if it makes you happy it makes you happy. It makes me happy. The slower Iron and Wine version is a little depressing but this one and the original are cheerful to me. It's like yeah an atomic bombs gonna blow us up and we're gonna explode but fuck it, we'll become silhouettes and be connected so much more than our bodies possibly could. I think the body represents something solid and materialistic and the silhoette is our soul.

General Comment:I love the Shins, but this is a bad cover of a good song. I love the Postal Service's version too much to like this one.

Besides, TPS's video for this was my very first exposure to indie rock, so I have great appreciation for it.
