On the floor can you feel it
Yes definitely
On the floor can you feel it
I've been here moving all night

On the floor do you mean it
Does it really matter
On the floor can you feel it
Oh I can

I need a time that's physical
The moment's yours you have it
You are the one that I adore
And you can see I want it

Some people born to criticise
It's just a song get on it
Do not forget you're an animal
So let it out

I've got to feel it
And set the record straight
Because I'm singing
To set the record straight

On the floor can you feel it
I've been smiling loads
On the floor can you feel it
Yeah

I've come a long way from my home
On the floor do you mean it
Why sure
I put a foot in my mouth sometime
On the floor can you feel it
I can feel all right

I need a time that's physical
The moments yours you have it
You are the one that I adore
And you can see I want it

Some people born to criticise
It's just a song get on it
Do not forget I'm animal so let it out

I've got to feel it
To set the record straight
Because I'm singing
To set the record straight

I'd open your mind
But you've got to find it
All I say to you
Is don't criticise

Because you half don't mind it
All good things to you
I'd open your mind
But you've got to find it

All I say to you
I've got to feel it and
Set the record straight
Because I'm singing
To set the record straight

General Comment:It reads like an argument between the singer/songwriter and a person (girlfriend?) he's trying to impress, but she doesn't like the music he does. He seems to be saying that the only thing that matters is how it makes you feel on the dance floor. He's pretty unapologetic about his opinions ("I put a foot in my mouth sometime"), but he's also trying to convince the someone "I adore". He also seems to be telling her not to be influenced by others who are "born to criticise". This song is really up-tempo to get the blood pumping and was also the theme for TV drama 'Redcap'. Great piece of music.

General Comment:In my opinion, this song is not so much about an arguement, as it is about music in general, and how it has the ability to be something undefinable. Something that can not be grasped by critique. Music has an aspect that is described in the song as physical. It has an impact on you, an can make you want to get out on the dancefloor. Hence the comment "don't criticise" and "open your mind". The opening song on the album, and probably one of the better. However, songs from the album seem a bit "polished" in comparison with the earlier albums. Give me the B-sides instead...
