The world is blowing up
The world is caving in
The world has lost her way again
But you are here with me
But you are here with me
Makes it OK

I hear you still talk to me
As if you're sitting in that dusty chair
Makes the hours easier to bear
I know despite the years alone
I'll always listen to you sing your sweet song
And if it's all the same to you

I love you oh so well
Like a kid loves candy and fresh snow
I love you oh so well
Enough to fill up heaven, overflow, and fill hell
Love you oh so well

And it's cold and darkness falls
It's as if you're in the next room so alive
I could swear I hear you singing to me

I love you oh so well
Like a kid loves candy and fresh snow
I love you oh so well
Enough to fill up heaven, overflow, and fill hell

The world is blowing up
The world is caving in
The world has lost her way again
But you are here with me
But you are here with me
Makes it OK
Oh girl you are singing to me still
I love you oh so well
Like a kid loves candy and fresh snow
I love you oh so well
Enough to fill up heaven overflow and fill hell

General Comment:Oh my god. Most of you are wrong. It's not about his sister. It's about Dave's grandfather, who fought Rommel in North Africa. Listen to Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds Live at Radio City. He explains it before they play the song.

General Comment:Also if you think about it, "the world is blowing up, the world is caving in" could symbolize war going on all around the world and when he says "as if you're sittin in that dusty chair" it makes you think of a chair that has aged with its owner (hence the owner must be an elder...aka his grandfather)

General Comment:Actually, this song is about his grandfather who fought Erwin Rommel, and the Afrika Corps, in North Africa...
If you listen to the beginning of the song from the "Live from Radio City" concert (non c.d. version) he explains it.

General Comment:eh this song is okay, not one of his best in my opinions. The lyrics are really simple, and the melody;s kinda slow, so i get kind of bored before i finish listening to the whole song lol. I guess i agree wit the interpretations about the grandpa and sister...my bf is like obsessed wit dave so i've heard his whole life story like 1000 times. However, i think dave meant to leave it sort of open ended; it can be related to any type of love

General Comment:This song is about his granfather when he was in the war, he would tell dave stories about his time in north africa, and he also tell dave stories about his grandmother and how he was so in love with her and thats all the memories dave has of him when he was "sitting in that dusty chair"
