Dave Matthews did not write this song. The name of the album is Some Devil... The narrator in the song "Save Me" is the devil. The devil tempted Jesus during his 40 days in the desert with food and water. The Jews who sentenced him to death kept shouting, "if you're the son of God, save yourself". The song is goes "Save me (You might try saving yourself)”. In the song the devil is asking to be saved or is he too far gone to get back home... Heaven.
