Seems like years as the temple rings,
Chokes gas with the awful news it brings.
How comes she's been avoiding,
She knows hes reached the end.
Hooked up to the respirator,
Please laugh into my callud lungs.
My hearbeats getting fainter,
And all my time has gone.
It's getting colder,
Deciding to show her that i'm not the one,
To be there beside her, now I'm crossing over
can no one consoleher.
I know she'll remain,
with no way to end this pain.
No one seems to realize, the things that I,
The things that I've done to you.
Why do you paint your love with all your heart,
with all that a heart can give.
Intentions that you'll never know,
The reason why I had to lead astray.
I gave you a last time, a painted remorse.
(Mistakes that were never yours)
The wrong in my life can never relate,
it flashes before my eyes...
(How did he come to this,
His mind is working harder then ever before,
Thousands of thoughts in seconds,
His last thoughts were of her...)
(And how he and he alone had destroyed the once
vibrant spirit he had inherited so deeply.
The last pain he had ever caused is to the only
woman that had ever loved him..)
The bright light is calling me over,
I follow and leave you alone.
Now you're all alone,
And I leave you with nobody by your side,
Not to hurt you ever again,
Never break your spirit's torment.
Now I'm all alone,
Still I cherish the things that you gave into me
The bright light is calling me over, I follow and leave you alone.
Chokes gas with the awful news it brings.
How comes she's been avoiding,

She chokes a gasp at the awful news it brings,
A phone call she's been avoiding,
She knows he's reached the end."
-I'd take the first stanza as the girlfriend or wife has been avoiding going to the hospital lately because she hates to see her man in the bed fading away, but she knows that this is her last chance.
"Hooked up to the resporator,
It breathes life into my calloused lungs,
My heart beats getting fainter,
You know my time has come."
-He's obviously in bad shape and dying.
"It's getting colder been trying to show her,
That I'm not the one to be there beside her now,
I'm crossing over can no one console her?
Alone she'll remain,
With no way to end this pain."
-His life is leaving him, and it's going to leave her all alone, because he is all she has.
"Now I realize the things that I,
The things that I have done to her,
Why you gave your love with all your heart,
With all that a heart can give.
Intentions that you'll never know,
The reason why I had to lead astray,
I gave you a lifetime of pain and remorse,
Mistakes that were never yours,
The wrong in my life can never be right,
It flashes before my eyes."
-As he's dying he realizes how much he has hurt her, even though she loved him unconditionally. He has made many mistakes that have cause problems for them, and he's reliving his horrible wrongs.
"How did it come to this?
His mind is working harder than ever before,
A thousand thoughts in seconds,
His last thoughts were for her,
Of how he and he alone,
Had destroyed the once vibrant spririt,
That he had coveted so deeply,
The last pain he ever causes the only woman,
Who ever loved him."
-In the moments before he actually dies, he looks back and can't believe he has allowed himself to hurt the only person to actually ever loved him.
"Bright light is calling me upward,
I follow and leave you below,
Now you're all alone
And I leave you with nobody by your side,
Not to hurt you ever again,
Never break your spirit for me,
Now I'm all alone,
Still I cherish the things that you've given to me,
Bright light is calling me upward,
I follow and leave you below."
-He leaves his body, and realizes that he is leaving her with no-one, and how hard it will be for her. He believes that his passing is for the better because he will no longer be able to hurt her the way he did when he was alive and with her. He is thankful she shared her love with him and was by his side until now. He doesnt want her to destroy herself over his passing.
Take the song whichever way you want. I see it as a story of betrayal, hurt, and broken trust, but still love overcomes everything in the end. He loves her so much that he agrees that she is better off without him.
mmhmm.
The movie and the song suit each otherwell. especially the ending bits like the speaking bit and the end chorus thing.
but yer.
great song.
love the ending lines.
and the synth at the end.
awesome.
That being said, i agree with alot of the previous comments about this song. It is obviously a song about a man who has passed on and left his sig. other behind. They were in deep love, but he feels that even though he is leaving her behind, it is the best for her. Reason being that he feels he has damaged her in ways that would have never happened if he weren't around. It is a depressing song but in many ways so true. He is only human and everyone hurts the ones they love in ways they never mean to. Death isn't necessarily the best way to remedy this, but the whole message behind the song is that he realized way too late that he hurt her way more than he would have liked. It should be a wake up call to us all to realize that not every tomorrow is guarenteed in our lives and we need to hold our loved ones near and try our best not to hurt them. Thats what i feel the song is saying....just a beautifully written song with a great message. I love the last verse, they way it is sung brings chills to my spine every time i listen.
Scene begins as a telephone rings,
She chokes a gasp at the awful news it brings,
A phone call she's been avoiding,
She knows he's reached the end.

My heart beats getting fainter,

It's getting colder been trying to show her,
That I'm not the one to be there beside her now,
I'm crossing over can no one console her?
Alone she'll remain,
With no way to end this pain.
Now I realize the things that I,
The things that I have done to her,
Why you gave your love with all your heart,
With all that a heart can give.
Intentions that you'll never know,
The reason why I had to lead astray,
I gave you a lifetime of pain and remorse,
Mistakes that were never yours,
The wrong in my life can never be right,
It flashes before my eyes.

You Have To Listen To The Song... It Speaks To You. lol =]

adj.
1. Having calluses; toughened: callous skin on the elbow.
2. Emotionally hardened; unfeeling: a callous indifference to the suffering of others.
Whether or not it is his wife/girlfriend, we do know that it is his significant other.
"Seems like years as the telephone rings,
Chokes gas with the awful news it brings.
A phone call she's been avoiding,
She knows he's reached the end."
His significant other is avoiding the phone call (most likely from a doctor/physician) of her significant other's death.
"Hooked up to the respirator,
Please laugh into my CALLOUS lungs.
My hearbeat's getting fainter,
I know my time has come."
He knows his time has come to fade away...
"It's getting colder,
AND TRYING to show her that I'm not the one,
To be there beside her, now I'm crossing over
can no one console her.
I know she'll remain,
with no way to end this pain."
His time has come to pass away 'cross over'. He knows he can't be there beside her to comfort 'console' her even though he wants to so bad.
"No one seems to realize, the things that I,
the things that I've done to you.
Why do you paint your love with all your heart,
with all that a heart can give."
Here, he is reflecting on things he has done to her; probably bad things. He can't quite understand why she can love him so much even though he hasn't been the best lover to her as he could have/should have been.
"Intentions that you'll never know,
The reason why I had to lead astray.
I gave you a last time, a painted remorse.
(Mistakes that were never yours)"
He's stating to himself that there were things that he had done and wish he could have done diferently. He wants her to know that the mistakes where never hers.
"The wrong in my life can never relate,
it flashes before my eyes..."
His life is flashing before his eyes, all the things that he has done wrong which he would never be able to fix.
"(How did he come to this,
His mind is working harder than ever before.
Thousands of thoughts in seconds.
His last thoughts were of her,
and how he and he alone had destroyed the once
vibrant spirit he had inherited so deeply.
The last pain he had ever caused is to the only
woman that had ever loved him...)"
To me, this is the BEST part of the song... His life is flashing all the events of his life, most paticularly of her. He knows that he has done things to 'break her spirit' and it was the last pain he had ever caused. They had probably had a fight or something bad happened before he was in his final state.
"The bright light is calling me over,
I follow and leave you alone.
Now you're all alone,
and I leave you with nobody by your side.
Not to hurt you ever again.
Never break your spirit's torment."
This pretty much obviously explains itself. He's gone from this world, leaving his significant other alone to never be hurt again.
"Now I'm all alone,
Still a cherish with things that you gave into me
The bright light is calling me over, I follow and leave you alone."
He's alone now, heaven or hell, who knows. He's thankful for the things that she has done for him and will cherish them forever.
That's pretty much my explination of the song. The song explains itself actually. This is by far, my favorite song. It's just beautiful. I hope this helps explain any holes if you had any. This was my first song that I tried to decypher the meaning so feedback would be nice. Kudos to buryyourdead for having the basic concept of it.
