omg I love this song!
it amazes me and what I don't understand;
if I (or anybody else) would write I WALK ALONE 12 times in ONE song nobody would take it serious and everybody would say 'it's too simple' and 'it's so not original' but Green day can make a song like this and than it's soo amazing (yeah i agree it IS an amazing song) and I think the whole new album is GREAT so if u don't have it yet BUY IT it's worth it!

Yea actually i own Chronic Futures cd- which i really like and i have a few songs by Silvertide on my computer.

And as far as Boulevard Of Broken Dreams goes, i like the song its good but i do think Green Days older stuff was better. Even Dookie. But i still like Green Day i think they are a talented band and they are really fun to see live.

EVERY TIME I HEER THIS SONG ON THE RADIO I CANT HELP THINKN SAD THINGS AND ALWAYS END UP WANTN 2 CRY. ITZ rely sad... I was listening to this song last night and I think I got the meaning of it... if someone already said this, then sorry - I don't have time to read the whole thing now.
I think the whole song is one big long metaphor for his life - it fits for everything. It's the only one/road/life that 'I have ever known'... and it's a 'lonely road'... and he's the only one walking the path of his life. And he's not sure if he's reached the end yet - he has to 'check my vital signs to know I'm still alive...' and I think it fits for everything.
Great song too.

Love this song. Here's my take

- No one truly understands him, they never have.
"Don't know where it goes, but it's home to me"
- He's uncertain what lies ahead but at the same time he's somewhat comfortable with being alone.
"My shadow's the only one that walks beside me"
- He feels like he's his own best friend/enemy
"My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating"
- Maybe he considers himself shallow? But he's saying that he's alone again.
"Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me"
- Every once in a while he wishes he would come across someone who understands him.
"I'm walking down the line that divides me somewhere in my mind, On the borderline..."
- Ummm he feels like he's close to not walking alone anymore? This one is complicated.
"Read between the lines, what's fucked up and everything's alright"
- His life is okay but not okay at the same time. Maybe he appears content but inside he's unhappy
"Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive"
- Sometimes he feels lonely to the point of feeling dead?

I think that Archie did a really good job at taking in the meanings of these lyrics. I agree with everything that he said.

"I'm walking down the line that divides me somewhere in my mind," I think what he was portraying there was that he thinks someone that finally understands him and how he feels is gonna come along soon and he isn't going to be alone. And for once he is gonna know how it feels to not be alone. I don't know if any of you felt that way, but that is how I interpreted it.

I love this song though! It's my favorite Green Day song next to "Time of Your Life". It's about being alone with no one there or something.

I related to the song. I don't date and i probably won't untill i find that perfect person but i giving up hope (maybe someday they find me instead). Even when I'm with my friend I still feel along.Like they be chatting about stuffs that i seem so no relate to me. Like when i say something, barely anyone hearded. I guess i walk a lonely road. Don't ever feel like i belong. But i like walking along, there no need to try to impress other or care about stupid rumors, or get anyone feeling hurt.
