Lyrics for Boulevard Of Broken Dreams as interpreted by da_coolio

Boulevard Of Broken Dreams Lyrics
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
And where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everythings all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a..

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk away!

Opinionhead, you made an important point regarding the media and its influence on us when it comes to music. I totally agree with you btw. However, I'm wondering why you let them influence you? If you prefer that and don't mind it, I guess there's nothing more to say. But if not, why not dig deeper for other forms of music, for e.g. Indie rock as you mentioned, or music that's big in britain, or different underground bands that exist. You might find that their music is less banal, more creative and original than the common cliched music that you listen to everyday on the radio. I used to listen to the typical pop, pop rock stuff on the radio and mtv until i discovered different avenues of music, and because of that I feel like i've been enlightened. Anyway, that's my 2 cents, hope it makes ya think a bit. Oh, and same for the rest of you out there ;).

I am confused as far as the lyrics go. If you listen it only sounds like he says "walking alone" in the chorus a couple of times. To me it sounds more like "Alawn". Which could be perhaps a line or along but probably not alone. If it does say Walking Alone then I must mention that it seems pretty cheap to right two songs where the chorus uses the exact same refrain. (See "Walking Alone"). Although both songs are good I would rather believe that there is at least a little variation between the two.

Two things, one SG3012 u said that once now u're tellin it again. Second (and this is to bugmenot) if u listen real hard u can hear the "I" in "I walk alone", the words r so mixed in with one another it's hard to hear it.

So I started reading all the posts that are here, and I got about 50 down and I realized that none of them reflect about what the songs actually about (except for the one by Underbelly). I would like to point out one thing to all of you people that claim that this song really sucks and brings the rest of the album down. By itself, on the radio and whatnot, it’s ok, it’s not any of Green Day’s finest. But when its played in sequence with the rest of the album it fits in perfectly. The idea of the American Idiot album is that it’s telling a story, a story I strongly believe to be about Billy Joe and Green Day themselves.

After deciding to leave in “Jesus of Suburbia,” the JOS (who I theorize is Billy Joe writing about himself) is trying to find a new home. He’s just left everything he has hoping to find a better life. “I walk a lonely road The only one that I have ever known Don't know where it goes but it's home to me and I walk alone” is describing the fact that his hometown was where he’s been his whole entire life, and its everything he hates. He’s walking alone because he’s the “American Idiot” and he’s realized that he’s different than everybody else, and because he’s separated, he walks alone. “What's fucked up and everything’s all right Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive” is saying that he’s been by himself for so long, not only walking alone but in his hometown, that he has to make sure he’s still breathing, because the people trying to control him have killed his spirit. That may also be a part of why the song’s so dark. This song basically only has one meaning because its repetitive. I gave it a shot, let me know what you think.

why does everyone assume that a popular song means it has to be pop? ok, pop shares the same first three letter as popular but so? so do monk and monkey, but we'd never expect a hairy tree dwelling primate to inhabit a monastry. just because a lot of people who don't claim to be "rebels" or "outcast's" like this song doesn't mean that green day have sold out and gone mainstream, it just means that they've written something decent that more than you and your own clique's can relate to. stop trying to be different and be yourself, it's easier to non conform if you don't follow a set of rules and regulations to do so.

anyway, i still like greenday, whether or not they have "sold out" and i'll still scream like a twat when i go to see them in concert. bye

just rolled up the page and read leena's post. thank you leena, you totally get what i mean about people who think that only they are entitled to like a band and if anyone else does, it means that band is pop.
you rule! thanks

I have no clue if the rest of the album is any good (I brought it today and haven't listened to it yet), but I absolutelly love this song, Billy Joe's voice sounds so cool on this song.

I think it is about drifting along in life, because no one really understands the way you are feeling right now, and you are waiting for someone to come along and save you from yourself.
