Lyrics for Boulevard Of Broken Dreams as interpreted by da_coolio

Boulevard Of Broken Dreams Lyrics
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
And where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everythings all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a..

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk away!

I don't care what people say about this song, I love it. Thats my opinion. I like to listen to this song when I'm sad for some strange reason

blueyedragon and whatshername:
Yes, this is a message board for posting your song meanings, however, you should be able to discuss your meanings about the song and, for an example in this thread, develop that discussion to something more, in this case, about the develop of the band, and the definition of "selling out".

Windgodess:
I wouldn't say the reason for being sad, because you listen to this song, because this song is basically about a sad thing, and this is just an opinion, it could be right, and it could be wrong, however, it's an opinion; having failed your own dream, and feeling like he is alone in this matter, noone feels the same way and hoping for someone comes to help him, getting on with his life.

It's an okay song, I'm not too fond of their new cd already. This song is better than American Idiot, though, I have to agree there.

Good song, and good cd...
I can relate to this song..
it explains how they're all alone and everyone else around is with someone (boyfriend, girlfriend) except them.. they feel left out
that's what i get out of it

do you think that
"I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
And where I walk alone "

i love how this song has just about the same meaning as any terrible simple plan song, but they make it sound somewhat intelligent. maybe cuz they write their own songs.. i dunno..

atthedrive-in is a fucking moron. Leave it to an indie fan to insult Billie Joe's Lyrics. I guess us Green Day fans are just inferior to your Indie bullshit

btw indie is the worst genre in the history of music

indie is the worst genre in the history of music? holy shit, what the hell kind of shit is this? i've never heard anything that stupid come out of a green day fan. do you know what the hell you are talking about dude? Green Day is punk and is starting to become emo, and that shows because one of the names on here is goodcharlottepunk. ok now, punk WAS a completly amazing type of music BEFORE green day and all these shit bands exactly like them. at the drive-in (in my prespective) isn't indie. some people think they are punk and i kinda agree but when you hear something like American Idiot you think totally different. So here is my question for you. how is todays punk any better than indie? American Idiot is one of the worst songs i have ever heard

this song sounds like a road i've done been down. it ain't fun. it really makes u think should i trust people or just myself. with this song green day has said things i try to tell my ex-girlfriend, like when they say "I walk this empty street On the Blvd. of broken dreams" if it made her feel the way i did when she broke up with me, she would see that i hoped we could be together forever, but like some hopes and dream they r meant to stay just that hopes and dreams. off that i feel they did a good job.

Wow there's no point to responding to a message when there's already so many replies....no doubt someone has the same analysis of the song I have, I see there are some GD fans here.

I think that songs can be interpreted any way you want them and more than one way can be correct. As Billie Joe said (the writer of American Idiot and the rest of American Idiot the album) American Idiot is open to anyone's interpretation....it could be him or the president of the United States. Songs are open to interpretation.

I think the great thing about Boulevard is...that many people can listen to it and have completely diferent views on it. Most people will listen to it ans see it as a romantic song.

My personal take on this songs is....and those of you who have the American Idiot album will understand what I mean....but this song is part of a story that plays itself out throughout the album. It's got a political meaning (interpreted in context of the rest of the album) its about Jesus of Suburbia character/St Jimmy running away from his troubles due to the current government. He feels that he is alone is expressing his outrage and there "I walk a lonely road, the only one that I have ever known" which shows that his opinion is not like others and never has been...as he's felt like he's the only one who wants to do something about it "where the city sleeps".

That's my take on it.

If you're going to claim GD sold out, you'd have to say right after Dookie. I personally don't think they've sold out. When Dookie came out they hadn't changed their style (anyone who owns Kerplunk or 1036...would know that), just now the public also liked their style. They are closing in on 40! Do you really expect them to still be singing about they same shit they did when they were 20? Come on! It would be pathetic and redundent if all their music still sounded like Dookie. People do grow up.

"atthedrive-in is a fucking moron. Leave it to an indie fan to insult Billie Joe's Lyrics. I guess us Green Day fans are just inferior to your Indie bullshit

ok first of all if you think indie is a genre you are a fucking moron. and if you think the lyrics in this song are original and clever you are a fucking moron. and, im a green day fan as well, so, youre a fucking moron.

unlike you, i dont try to start fights on here, i just share my opinions. i dont mind this song, but i have shared a few criticisms of it, for example the lyrics, as you have noticed.

and yes, the lyrics of independent bands are often very clever, and perhaps superior to green day's as you sarcastically hinted at. thats not to say green day arent a good band, but if you think their lyrics can be compared to a band such as at the drive-in's lyrics you are sadly mistaken.

fucking moron.

to me the song is just a single from a band that knows it's target audience...Green Day has notoriously preyed upon teenagers looking for "deep" music to listen to. It's just a shallow single from an "ok" band...i would suggest a band like "Pavement" or "Sparta" for a better listening experience.

how can u say Green Day is a "ok" band as u put it. they're not just a "ok" band they are a great band. u said "Green Day has notoriously preyed upon teenagers looking for "deep" music to listen to." they're not, they're just doing something they're good at SINGING. besides i say u didn't even give this songs meaning alot of thought before u tried to put it down.

awesome song.

and i think as bands get older they start writing stuff that really matters to them...therefore u get deeper songs...not just radio singles to make money

anyhowz saw them live on leno play this song... it was incredibly badass. ive been needin to see them in concert for awhile now..
