Lyrics for Boulevard Of Broken Dreams as interpreted by da_coolio

Boulevard Of Broken Dreams Lyrics
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
And where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everythings all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a..

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk away!

It's not giving him a hard time, it's called to argue for and against why you like the song, and then discussing the meaning.

opinionhead and sp3rtas, i agree with both of you, which is where i actually start confusing myself.

see, phish and green day are my two favorite bands, in my opinion, best of both worlds, but...i can't help but get confused with the whole black makeup ordeal they've got going on, (which ever one of you said something about that) but than (to the other one of you) i agree with you on that they honestly dont care about any of or what we think.

this is where i get confused.

If they don't care why would they feel they have to put on the mkeup and play for "big in 04'" on VH1 and shit like that? ...well ilke one of you said, freedom of choice. But, again, to make my state of confusion mre clear, why would they even want to be on VH1, or where makeup for that matter? I mean, in Blood, Sex, and Booze, i believe that billie's talking about the makeup artist that does him up before shows and shit.. (..whoa B,S,and B just came on in my CD player right when i started talking about it..wah haha ) that he hates the pain of all this makeup she's putting on "makes him bleed", but it's getting him the attention, the sex the booze.. haha

anyway, so... maybe he likes it, again with the freedom of choice thing...it just all seems too played out.

and if anyone saw the VH1 "Big in 04'" last night, man i was truely sad. i duno dude, i guess i shouldn't be but hey i can't help it. anyway, opinionhead, you did put it out good about how things come and go. good points.

whatshername, isn't Blood, Sex and Booze fairly obviously a song about S&M? I don't think his makeup artist comes into it

I still believe, as I've said before, that the are on the path to selling out, but not yet there. I think the reason for the black makeup, is to look like other "cool" bands, at the time. I think the whole reason behind the black makeup is to make the artists look sad, too make them look more belivable, when they sing sad songs... (correct me if I'm wrong, I don't really know much about makeup).

About B,S and B, I don't know if the song is about that(see my comment about that song), but if it is, well... people change.

wow. you guys dont realize this site is suppose to be for song meanings, not bitching at each other. and after reading all of that bs all i have to say is Mtv is sold out. this is very steriotypical like how can you classify yourselves, punk, gothic, what? its not a term, its something you are.
and punk music isnt dead or sold out, the punk way of life is, when you got the posers running around thinking that blink182 is hardcore. yeah ok kids.

Is, this site is indeed for songmeanings, as the name of the site is, but you should be allowed to discuss each others conclusion of the specific song or...

And I haven't seen anyone mentioning anything about Blink182...?

i'll be the first one to actually say what i think the song means

its about him feeling so lonely and how he keeps waiting for "the one"

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
(his shadow is his friends who are always there for him but he takes them for granite and still says that hes alone)
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
(hes shallow and even though he has all of these chances he keeps turning everyone down even if they were amazing cause hes waiting for someone perfect)
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
(hes waiting for that perfect girl to find him and untill him he won't accept anything else)
Till then I walk alone

i dunno thats wha ti got out of it

lifeisoverrated- not only do i agree with sp3ratus, but i also don't see anyone clasifying themselves as punk or goth for that matter either? ...plus, those who understand what your saying anyway, already know. those who don't understand wont understand so it's not worth saying so randomly

Good job, whatshername. but, i will always believe that you can teach the ways of a punkrocker to anybody. its all about love of the music, real punk rock. not good charlotte and blink 182 and all that bullshit, im talkin about rancid, anti-flag, etc...
but nobody has really claimed to be punk rock or anything. i personally have no preference, as long as its good music.

how can you say good charlotte and blink 182 in the same sentence? im not trying to start an argument, but unlike a lot of people i think blink are a really good band. but i see your point.

krazyperson, in my opinion you can't "teach" someone punk, that would be poser. punk isn't just about the music though, its about the words, it's a movement. standing up, (or even sitting down for the matter) for what you believe in and not standing alone; uniting with the others alike

Thats right you guys cant teach punkrock. whats up with that, and I was just taking about in general, the kids that run around saying blink182 is hardcore, just like the same kids, that think GC is hardcore, Yep because thats hardcore music right there.
I dont know my theory is once a bands music has hit Mtv. its sold out. because mtv is sold out, like do you remember back in the day when trl actually played music.
music, is just like talking about religion, and anarchy. you just cant speak how you feel about it, you know before anyone shoots you down.

powerful speech! gc + hardcore = a mad mad world where weird preppy goth like beings rule the earth aka 1/2 the ppl i know.and ur rite about mtv. once they play a song on there, thts it. the townies hav taken it, eaten and it, and made it their anthem, sayin they love the band but dont no ani more tracks and havent even got the album. trl now is a load of nuthing but presenters tht culdnt make it big elsewhere and singers tht jst happen 2 b in the country and dont really want 2 b there.

atthedrivein- i wouldn't change what i said, because i think that is the truth, but i would add to it, asking the same question your asking me. if that made sense. the world is too diverse in a sense now to have punk be such an extreme as-was in the past. The problem narrowed down i guess could be simply put that everyone now adays has such crazy oppinions, and there is so many more ways of expressing it, and so much more "oppertunities," that punk couldn't really exsist, (as big a movement as before) Because of all the little "gc" kids and what not, and the new age stereotyped definition of punk, people thinking its a clothing style or, again, gc, "the stories been stretched and so far fetched," that theres no unstreching of it.

sorry if that was confusing, i've got a lot in my head, so it's hard to say exactly what i want to.

Ok why does everyone say someone has sold out as soon as they are on TV and has made it into the mainstream ? I mean dont you want your bands to be successful? i get so sick and tired of people who get mad about that shit it stupid and pointless. i mean if they have good music shouldnt others be able to be exposed to it?

you have a point onecrazygirl, and i agree, except youre forgetting one thing. usually when a band suddenly starts being played on mtv, its because their music has changed or become more user-friendly. the backlash from fans is not normally only because its on tv, but because the music is mtv-friendly and therefore shit. for example, im pretty sure "hitchin a ride" was played on mtv, but there were no disappointed green day fans then, because the music itself didnt appear to be a sellout.

now im not saying green day have sold out, but the music is considerably more commercial and mainstream. its the music that bands play to get on tv that pisses the fans off, not the pure fact that they are on tv.

...personally i dont think they have * sold out* jsut because they are are on TV. i do agree with u atthedrive when u say they are becoming more commercial. Alot of people say there are totally steriotype PUNX but i dont agee i think they have been the same since they came out, maybe just a little different but i will always like greenday

i kinda agree with atthedrivein cuz ive been a fan of green day for quite a while now, and ive noticed that theres this whole new wave of "fans" since this new cd came out..these are the "fans" who saw green day on trl on mtv or something and dont really appreciate the music. i think the whole concept of the 'punk rock opera' was pretty cool and they made it work. the cd's kick ass. not the same as their old stuff, but still kick ass.

I think this song is good just because I feel identified with the lyrics. I don'r really care if there are better songs about green day cos im not a big fan of them but i think u ppl should not mix all kid of shit with what the songs sound like and commetn more on the depth of the lyrics

blueyedragon,

i partly agree with you. I do wish that people would talk more about the depth of the songs, and not even say if they like them or not, whatever, but i'd like to know what people really think the songs mean. only because there is no where else to talk about whatever it is we all talk about on here, is why we do it though, i guess.
