Lyrics for Boulevard Of Broken Dreams as interpreted by da_coolio

Boulevard Of Broken Dreams Lyrics
I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line of the edge
And where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's fucked up and everythings all right
Check my vital signs to know I'm still alive
And I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk alone

Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh
Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ah-Ah Ahhh

I walk this empty street
On the Blvd. of broken dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a..

My shadows the only one that walks beside me
My shallow hearts the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
Till then I walk away!

This is probably the best song of 2004...these guys can write a dark, brooding tune and it's very introspective of them. I think they've gone back to their roots and at the same time, they've explored new territory. I love the mix of acoustic and electric and it hits the heart hard. These guys are master musicians and their genre will never matter. They will be remembered because of their ability to transcend their initial sound and win over fans that are not hard-core punks. I found "Dookie" two years ago and I became a fan of them. Here's a question, if you become a fan of a band eight years after their breakthrough album came out, does that mean you've jumped on the bandwagon? I don't think so...and this is coming from someday who's a fan of both Alice In Chains and Charlie Daniels.

Limei, green day should not be one of your favorite bands if this is the first time you've listened to green day.

Their one of my favorite bands now! Their lyrics are great. Just because I just (well for a couple of months now) started liking them dosen't mean I don't like them..and I can have them on my Favorite Bands list because they are one of my favorite bands.

roadside state of mind
Boulevard of Broken Dreams washed out this time
after time I was lost and looking
but knew I'd never find
what is mine in a world that's so unkind.

This song ROCKS....maybe this song is a bit different from the rest, but what's wrong with that? artists are and SHOULD try out different directions, you guys shouldn't just immediately diss them or anything..and they are not sell outs just because more people listen to them....i'm sure someone already said this but you should be happy that green day is getting more exposure.

atthedrive-in,

if youre commenting on one greenday song, i'm pretty sure ou're guna take a look at some other ones you'll see a lot of people comment saying they have sold out, or something inferring or refering to it. "on the lines of"

anyway, i mean yea it sounds dumb to say somthing without fbacking yourself up with examples to prove your points, but you know what the people are talking about..so let them sound dumb when they attempt to make a point

Hm, this song is catchy, but I have to love the old stuff about be bored and getting stoned, it speaks to me more than all this "Fuck, I'm sad" shit happening in pop music now. My little sister listens to this so come on, old Green Day was alot better..

To somebody above who said "try to look at this song from Billie's point of view", I'd just like to remind you that this isn't meant to be seen from the author's point of view, but from the perspective of Jesus/Jimmy.

To whatshername and atthedrive-in:
Yes, to some point they have sold out to some point. I'm not saying they've completly sold out, but to some point, I mean, for an example what's with the black makeup around their eyes, I haven't seen that until American Idiot came out. I think that's an influence from other bands.

LurkerAbyss:
You can have different meanings about a song, that's what this board is about, sharing opinions, so both opinions can be right.

Personally I think this a good song, both the music and the text, which I can relate to. And yes, I listened to some older stuff and you can't compare this song to that, because this song is a different kind of punk, than they did then.

This is my opinion, so say what you want about it.

There is this cult mentality of selling out, WHAT THE FUCK? Has anybody forgotten freedom of choice? There is choice in all this! They did this and don't give a fuck what we think. Think of it from that perspective. This will never be considered the best song of 2004 even though they pose for VH1. This will probably be their last brush with fame and they will disappear from the minds of everybody. If you play on VH1 awards show, have you sold out? I can't say because I never seen the money they've ever made! The truly talented in this year will be left by the wayside. Jaime Cullum will have one hit and then disappear. Same with Modest Mouse and Franz Ferdinand. Has anybody heard anything by Chronic Future, Faithless, Clutch, or Silvertide? These were the good artists of 2004 and they will never be considered in the scheme of pop culture for 2005. The hot sluts of this year will transcend, the hip-hopsters will transcend, the old artists still searching for present meaning will transcend. Those artists I've mentioned are in this year only and will never see the light of day after that. Keep them alive in your memory and search out other music by them. Stop bitching about Green Day...they'll be done after this year. They fit into that leftist-anti-war box that's flooded popular culture in the last two years. They aren't being referenced for Longview or Time of Your Life or Warning or Minority, they will be remembered by VH1 as the guys that sang that "American Idiot" Song. Where are Days of The New, AIC, The Tragically Hip, Harvey Danger, Danzig, Jars of Clay, Phish, Presidents Of The USA, and the artists I think that mean anything! I hate popular culture and those who dictate it. Green Day is just a player is the current scheme and they won't be seen again. I'll believe it even if it doesn't happen because everybody's sun eventually sets. Fame is only fifteen minutes long.

OpinionHead:
Yes, i still remember freedom of choice, it may be that they dont give a fuck what we think about them, however, all the bands that survives is those who sell out, those who appeal to peoples' lowest common denominator, simple rhytms and lyrics that doesn't mean anything at all.

Hovewer they may give a fuck about what we think, because fame does crazy things to people, who can't handle it, for an example a famous musician wants to make more money than he already has, therefor he finds out what people likes at that point, and makes a song about that, which usually becomes popular. That is selling out!

I'm not saying Green Day is selling out, just that they are heading that way, and I think that's a shame.

About some of the bands you mentioned, no, I haven't heard anything of them, and that must be because they are different from what VH1 and MTV , who almost controls what will be popular and what won't. Hovewer, I don't watch those channels, neither do I listen to much pop, so that's why I haven't heard of them. I think the reason why many haven't heard of them is because of VH1 and MTV, besides controlling pop music, they influences magazines and websites about new pop, not to write about those bands, because they haven't heard of them.

About Green Day and their future, let's see...

Hey, this song would be sub-par if the it weren't shamelessly stealing from a Nat King Cole song... oh well. They basiclaly added half-assed lyrics and changed some words around a bit.
