This is by far one of the greatest songs Green Day has ever done, even if it IS a cover. Billie Joe has this amazingly distinct voice and paired with the perfect music is auralgasmic. The mellotron in this song is an excellent touch.

dude this whole CD is a story, the song is talking about jesus of suburbia leaving town to go to the city and he's lonely and so bored. he'a so bored where he creates his alter ego called st. jimmy DUh

yeah i have the picture it has nothing to do with the american dream the painter us talking about the future. in the pic there a paper that says 1960. have u noticed that in 1960 there was no 7 up, but why is elvis drinking a 7 up? and in 1960 JFK wasnt dead, but why is JFK's son holding a paper that says JFK is dead????

hey can u guys help me?? in the remix version of this song, theres a line that says "everyday i wake up and it's sunday.." and a few other lines (can't figure out wut the guy is sayin). what song is that from?? its not from blvd. of broken dreams, nd its not from wonderwall...? *confused* anyone have any clue???

I agree with Corymachine..a great song, made a little bit worse by overplaying..before it was a single, I loved the crap out of it. it's still a good song, none-the-less. message is fairly obvious, from what I think at least.

the whole album is a story an I think its bout jos and how he left home and met this drug dealer(st jimmy) he gave him drugs but he finaly discoverd drugs r ruinin his life so he went bak home. also his girlfrend (whatsername) broke up with him and he cant stop thinkin bout her an junk

^ okay... obviously *some* people don't care about the meanings of the song, but only how "HAWT!" Billie Joe is. yeah whatever... anyway, the songs about JOS whose now run away from his home and now he's out on his own all alone. (i walk alone...) its the "sequel" to Holiday as well.

okay so i guess we've all got down that the album is telling the story of Jesus of Suburbia. the meanings of all the songs tell the story and thats what makes this such a monumental album. i mean, what other band out there is making a "rock opera"? the album definitely deserves to get all those Grammy's. and i betchya they will. ;)

firstly, bluecherry no: the lyric is THAT walks beside me. secondly the title is correct: this IS boulevard of broken dreams, not boulevard of broken SONGS as the lyrics posted here do not include the mix of aerosmith and eminem. thirdly the lyrics are correct: I have listened to this song a million times, the lyrics are just dandy.
