I absoloutley love how they can express themselves in such a totally unique way. They're amazing sound sounds like no one else's.....Punk is a variety of things. And if they didn't play this, they probably wouldn't be as famous with the younger crowd. I'm fourteen and the only reason why i'm soo into Green Day iis because I heard this on the radio, and then i fell in love with them. So seriously, that's a load of crap that you can come here and give this song anything but compliments.

To me, he's moving on from something sad that has been going on in his life. But he is the only one who can walk down this road during this period of his life. He just wishes someone would be there with him during this entire time, but there is no one there to help him. I think maybe one of the guys in the band or a close friend of theirs is this Jesus of Suburbia character, maybe even just a teenager of our time frame.

Well, what this song really means is that the narrator is depressed due to his failures (or maybe he's just hard on himself), and he wants someone to break him out of this. It is a song I can relate to. In relation to the album, this song describes Jesus of Suburbia's state of mind while he is leaving his home town.

it sooooo reminds me of whats going on in my life right now bad things are happening left and right...sum1 rejected me, i got in a fight at school, these jerks in an older grade hate me, im constantly in trouble at home....and also now VERY recently i think i think differently than other ppl (after all im ambidextrious)...i notice things that other ppl dont, i can memorize things a lot better than the average person...and this song is just helping me get through all of this, it tells me not to give up and good things will start happening again...best song ever, green day and the beatles all the way

i love this song the first tim i heard it i realated to it immediately. i feel connected to this song on a deeper level because i often feel like an outsider and i put up with alot of shit from a lot of people but i know it will get better and this song kind of gives me hope in a weird way.

Heh you don't have to like the band. The song on its own has alot of meaning in it and alot of people ascosiate with it so for them I say GREAT to evryone else I say: Why the hell dyou listen to the song if you dont like it in the first place.

All bands screw up sometimes but there are always people who actually like the songs that other people say the band screwed up with. For this reason I always say even if one band specialises in making a certain type of music, dont judge them by it. Judge the song on its own. The only thing that you can judge a band by is how many songs it made that you dont like and for that reason you'll generally keep away from the band, but you never know when they might by some stroke of genious produce a song that you actually like - alot.

Definitely my favourite Green Day song from the American Idiot album, and my favourite Green Day song fullstop. To me it's being without any friends and without anyone who loves you, just lonely, broken hearted and in a world full of shattered dreams, and living a life that's not actually worth living.

well this song has a personal meaning to me, it might be completely different than what he wrote it about but, for me its about being lonely, as in having no love

- i've been single for so long that this is the only life that i know, so as much as i hate being single it's the only "road" that i know, and i admit that im a shalow person so it is partly my fault so every line of

Beautiful song. I don't think it has any specific meaning, the lyrics really say it all. I love Green Day so much. This was the band that got me into punk music and I'm so grateful it happened. And I don't blame them for being mainstream either. I mean yes, their whole teen idol image is extremely annoying, but I still love the music, so I will bite my tongue and try to ignore the stupid image... And also try to ignore those stupid emo kids who compare Green Day to good charlotte... if any of you good charlotte fans read this, stop comparing those bands! good charlotte is a shitty new wave pop band, I think you all should stop listening it.

This song has always spoken to me, especially the line "Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me" because to me, that reprsents me being single, and trying to find that partner to walk beside me in my life. Being single can be very lonely sometimes. But now, I have found someone where I don't feel so alone anymore.

This song is like my life to me. Whenever I would get really depressed I would either read the lyrics (if my parents had already taken away my music) or I would blast it in my room. It would make me feel better.

This song is kind of depressing, but at the same time peaceful. Its sad because no one wants to be alone all the time, everyone wants to be understood. But at the same time, realizing that theres many things about this world that are fucked up and choosing solitude over conforming is a powerful notion. |The sense of peacefulness comes from the fact that its only sometimes he wishes someone would find him, for the most part he's accepted and learned not to fear being alone. But then again, sometimes being on your own that much does start to make you wonder if your crazy for what your doing, so that you have to check to make sure you're still alive
