Vanessa said she wrote it about a girl named Victoria who loved Vanessa's music and was dying of leukemia, and it was so meaningful to her. Personally, I think it's about living life to its fullest, and fighting for it no matter what pulls you down. In this case, it's leukemia.

When i first heard this song i first thought that the keeping company with a ghost part could mean that the little girls gaurdian angel or something came to her in her mind or something and helped her thru everything. most people would prolly think thats retarded but idk, i just to to a catholic skool and thats what it makes me think of.
but then again theres the option of the memory of the little girl coming to nessa sometimes but i like my idea better (=
