If you want to be my friend
You want us to get along
Please do not expect me to
Wrap it up and keep it there
The observation I am doing could
Easily be understood
As cynical demeanor
But one of us misread

And what do you know
It happened again

A friend is not a means
You utilize to get somewhere
Somehow I didn't notice
Friendship is an end
What do you know
It happened again

How come no-one told me
All throughout history
The loneliest people
Were the ones who always spoke the truth
The ones who made a difference
By withstanding the indifference
I guess it's up to me now
Should I take that risk or just smile?

What do you know
It happened again
What do you know

General Comment:This song reminds me of a play by Henrik Ibsen (also from Norway) called An Enemy of the People. "You see, the point is that the strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone."

General Comment:pink power^^ anyways! i agree i think your right. someone likes someone else, but she just wants to be friends. its in the lyrics!

If you wanna be my friend
You want us to get along
Please do not expect me to
Wrap it up and keep it there

(as in you want to be friends but dont expect me to just keep it at that and be satisfied by just that)

A friend is not a means
    You utilize to get somewhere
    Somehow I didn't notice
    friendship is an end

(She is utilizing him< or using him. someone misread the situation and the relationship ended at friends
so they didnt become anything more than friends and maybe they are no longer friends hence " the lonliest people" part)

    What do you know
    It happened again

(this is just repetition to show that he seems to be in this situation over and over again)

    and now my favorite line
"The ones who made a difference
    By withstanding the indifference"

he made a difference by not acting indifferent, so maybe he did try speaking his mind and she misread period.

General Comment:This song reminds me of someone liking someone else, while the other person wants to be just friends, but then because of this the other person feels like this is "an end" (somehow i didn't notice, friendship is an end)

    How come no-one told me
    All throughout history
    The loneliest people
Were the ones who always spoke the truth

    best line in the song..

should i take that risk, or just smile?...

General Comment:This song was actually written by Eirik. In an interview (found on their website) Erlend commented that he believes Misread was written about him and his "superficial connections with people".

General Comment:this song is great because it could be interpreted in so many ways to different people. and it sounds great, of course. :)

my first interpretation would be that he's trying to choose between a life of solitude and a life with friends. being alone means being self-reliant and independent, without anyone to let you down. but a life with others is wonderful because they're there to share it with you, but you end up losing sight of yourself, a lot. the balance between both is important, yet sometimes we struggle with question anyway.

my second interpretation would be about him misinterpreting his relationship to a friend. he loves her, she doesn't, he's aware of this and can't stay friends with her because of it.

General Comment:I totally agree with josephRaymond. I think the song is about a person who is too honest for their own good and so people don't understand them. They misread the things they say. When they feel that a person is using them, they let it be known that that's how they feel. If there is something about their friend that bothers them, they can't be expected to just forget about it and leave it there, they're going to try and do something about it. But, in the end, this kind of behavior can backfire and in the end the person can be left with no friends, bcuz even when he tries to behave himself, "what do u know, it happened again". So, should he just paste a smile on his face and try to forget about the things that bother him about people? Or should he continue to be honest and only keep the people in his life that don't misread the things he says?

General Comment:I think this song is about two friends... a guy and a girl.
i'm a girl so i'm gonna put it this way.. she likes him, but he only wants to be her friend, so, nothing can happend between them. "friendship is an end".
Still, she wants to be with him.
Maybe the guy is really kind to her, so she missunderstood his intentions.. "But one of us misread".

**Should I take that risk or just smile?

That's what i'm asking... lol... should i take that risk or just smile ? =s...

    luv this song
