I was scared but once I thought about, I let it go
Everything she said to me I guess I ought to know
We're all tired when it comes to shove
Put up put out or stay at home
We'll never be the same
Never feel this way again
I'd give you anything but you want pain
A little water please
I taste you all over my teeth
Never again
Just tonight?
Okay
All at once the music stopped
The feeling went away
An ugly picture, me and you
But nothing I can change
You know what happens with the lights back on
The less you know the more you want
And you want
You want
We'll never be the same
Never feel this way again
I'd give you anything but you want pain
A little water please
I taste you all over my teeth
Never again
Just tonight?
Okay
Never again
Just tonight?
Okay
Everything she said to me I guess I ought to know
We're all tired when it comes to shove
Put up put out or stay at home
We'll never be the same
Never feel this way again
I'd give you anything but you want pain
A little water please
I taste you all over my teeth
Never again
Just tonight?
Okay
All at once the music stopped
The feeling went away
An ugly picture, me and you
But nothing I can change
You know what happens with the lights back on
The less you know the more you want
And you want
You want
We'll never be the same
Never feel this way again
I'd give you anything but you want pain
A little water please
I taste you all over my teeth
Never again
Just tonight?
Okay
Never again
Just tonight?
Okay

I just know is the best JEW song period. Is the song that my mp3 player plays the most and I don´t ever get bored to listen it
When it was being written it was called "Sex You Up", which seems pretty clear to me.
i don't think that they're necessarily ABOUT drugs. the album seems to have more of a feel with dealing with drugs in a relationship. I.E. one of the two in the relationship is addicted to some drug and possibly the other person used to be, but gave them up. The "sober" person loves the hell out of the druggy but the drugs are destroying the other person, and s/he realizes that the addict will always chose the drugs over the relationship despite the love s/he has for the addict.
but yes, there is definetly a drug theme on Futures, but i think it's in the context of a relationship
Everything she said to me I guess I ought to know
We’re all tired talk when it comes to shove"This is about someone telling you that somethings wrong, you've known it for a long time, but hearing it loud makes it real."Put up put our or stay at home" That's about doing whats rightand not disolutioning that everything fine the way it is."We’ll never be the same
Never feel this way again
I’d give you everything but you want pain?
A little water please
I taste you all over my teeth
Never again
Just tonight?
Okay."this is your body being confused, your mind is saying that we're going to change, be a new person. Your body says 'no, keep doinng wrong it feels good, why do you want to go through the pain of change'. You bite your lip to force yourself through it. No more pain! your body screams. Just tonight, your mind whispers."All at once the music stopped
The feeling went away"You feel like a new person for an instant"An ugly picture, me and you
But nothing can change
You know what happens when the lights back on
The less you know the more you want
And you want
You want"The person you can be, and your current self hate eachother. The mirror says that you'll never change. You're still not right. But it only forces you to try harder."Never again
Just tonight?
Okay."You almost give into the pain. Just one more night. You're still alive. don't ever give up.
“I was scared but once I thought about, I let it go
Everything she said to me I guess I ought to know
We’re all tired talk when it comes to shove
Put up put our or stay at home”
He’s scared to do it, but he lets himself get relaxed about it. Everything she (possibly the drug dealer?!) said to him was something he ought to know, e.g. needles, what to do if something goes wrong etc. We’re all tired talk refers to hearing it all before anyway, and put up put our or stay at home is pushing at leave if you don’t want to do it, but don’t judge us if you stay.
“We’ll never be the same
Never feel this way again
I’d give you everything but you want pain?
A little water please
I taste you all over my teeth
Never again
Just tonight?
Okay.”
They’ll never be the same after doing drugs, and they’ll never get that same buzz after they have finished (stopped) doing drugs. He’d do anything for that buzz, but in reality all the drugs will do is give him pain, whether it is from an amateurish needle injection or something else. A little water please, taste you all over his teeth, from rubbing a drug onto his gum (is it cocaine? I’m not an addict, I just know the possible ways of taking drugs) He is telling himself that he’ll never do it again, just tonight, and is saying okay to try and strengthen that promise to himself.
“All at once the music stopped
The feeling went away
An ugly picture, me and you
But nothing can change
You know what happens when the lights back on
The less you know the more you want
And you want
You want”
All at once the music stopped, the feeling went away; the buzz stopped. An ugly picture left of you and me; him and the needle, or little bag or whatever, after getting high. But nothing can change, you know what happens when the lights back on, the more you know the more you want; it doesn’t matter how much he denies his addiction, how much he tries, he’ll want more drugs, more hits.
Just what I think. :)
All at once the music stopped
The feeling went away
An ugly picture, me and you
But nothing can change
You know what happens when the lights back on
The less you know the more you want
And you want
You want
I think it's about two people who used to be in a relationship but that's deteriorated and now they're at the point where 1 of them wants to be together but the other just wants to keep them there as a backup, so in order to do that they keep randomly getting together. So "all at once the music stopped the feeling went away" music resembles a good thing and now that that good thing is gone theres nothing left but something ugly in the sense that its not what it was before.
my favorite part: You know what happens when the lights back on
The less you know the more you want
And you want
You want
most people hookup in the dark right, the lights are on and its over. and one of the two is left to wonder where are they taking this, do they still care and the less they know about the others feelings the more they want the other person.
you want what you cant have...oh so true
This song reminded me of a relationship where I had an ex, who became a fuck-buddy. Everytime we met up it was wild, crazy, passionate sex but afterward I felt like a whore. And I would promise myself that tonight was the last night with him, but as soon as he made a move It started up again. Hence like in the song "Never again, Just tonight. ok."
ok you have just described exactly how things were with me and what the song means to me
ummm its about sex, having "meaningless" sex with a friend and promising it won't happen again but it always does. One of them wants something more so its putting strain on everything and they'll never be able to be the way they were as friends before the sex.... pretty much what everyone else said
that was my view a while ago ^ but now i'm pretty posative what this song means. to me anyway. everyone's heard of "friends with binafits" thats what i feel this song is about.
hypathetical guy and girl are friends. she wants to be more than just friends, but not in the dateing since. he knows he wants her but then agean he dosnt want to kill what they allready have as friends. he would do anything for her but there's only one thing that she really wants (kindof ironic that its a girl really, since we know what guys are like)
it all seams good for a while... but once he thinks about it he realizes he hates what he's done.
he knows that now that he's done this there's no way they can go back to being just friends "we'll never be the same"
there is no way he can postably feel like friends now that he's done this, it will allways be odd... "never feel this way agean"
when he says "You know what happens when the lights back on" i'm pretty sure he's referring to life while there not in the bedroom...
and "The less you know the more you want"... it could refer back to the 'never agean being friends really' thing, in that she dosnt want to get that close to him because it makes it that much more painful to want what she wants from him.
he dosnt want to, he knows he shouldnt, but he does anyway. because she wants to... and then hates himself for it ....
Never again
Just tonight?
Okay.
