General Comment:I have long been fascinated with this song, as with many BoC songs.

I don't think the numbers are really very important, I think the song is about the fallibility of adults in the lives of children.

The song begins with kids being taught "orange" and agreeing unquestioningly "yeah that's right".

Then the numbers start. The same woman's voice that was also saying "orange" is now reciting a series of numbers. They start out in sequence, continue out of sequence, and then go completely nuts with "sixty-ten". The adult does not correct herself but stumbles and continues on.

Anyway, I'm not explaining this very well and certainly no one but the artist(s) know what this song was intended to "mean", if anything.

General Comment:On another note, the number sequence for the original is not the one given, the numbers in this lyrical translation are for a different version of Aquarius, not the one on the Album Aquarius. The Numbers for Aquarius (The one on The Aquarius Album) are as follows:
    (1-36)
    44
    68
    27
    35
    42
    58
    47
    63
    85
    74
    67
    66
    51
    79
    42
    24
    45
    sixty-ten
    6
    7
    56
    65
    44
    54
    44
    67
    42
    55
    86
    20

Aquarius Version 3 uses a different set still, after "sixty ten" the numbers follow as:

    64
    47
    52
    23
    23
    23
    23
    23
Aquarius Version 3 also features extra voiceovers, one of which sounds something like "I'm listening" And the other which I have yet to find discernable. Thought I would go ahead and clear that up.

General Comment:assweetasasong: If you listen to BOCs lyrics / samples and watch their videos closely, you will discover that there are hidden messages everywhere. They are very fond of hiding numbers, but also old pornography and old weird stuff from canadian tv programs on nature. All this hidden messages probably don't have have any meaning viewed as a larger whole, however that does not make it uninteresting to study :)

General Comment:I think this song was meant for a bunch of people to sit and contemplate its meaning by doing math equations and debating a bunch of numbers and words which probably only have significance (if any at all) to the artists who created them.

General Comment:I looked up the sign Aquarius, wondering if orange was the sign's "special color", but no luck, the special color is turquoise!

As for the 666 thing...Marilyn Ferguson wrote a book called The Aquarian Conspiracy, and the symbols on the cover are said to mean 666. The book, in summary by one of the reviewers, was:

"Ferguson's idea was that the children of the '60's would introduce new ways of relating to different issues, challenging the old heirarchies of work, church, and home life. This would come about as the result of a kind of accidental conspiracy - different people in different walks of life individually pursuing the same philosophies. The result would be a new age defined by 'Transpersonal philosophy' and 'holism'."

WAY out there of me to suggest, but maybe this had to do with it? I doubt it myself even though, so I'm probably wrong!

General Comment:@khanelias: Adding up the numbers from 1 to 36 is not the same as 36!. The faculty of a number is the multiplication of the numbers from 1 to n (where n is some integer). (36! is a very large number).

The sum of the numbers from 1 to n is equal to the expression (n(n+1))/2, where n is some integer. And yes, setting n = 36, will yield 666 :)

Now OT: All this "conspiracy stuff" about BoC is very exciting, but I really wish I could find some more lyrics / texted samples of all the other BoC tracks (for instance the number called Corsair). Any of you know a place where this is possible?

General Comment:adding up from 1 until 36 is 36! or 36 faculty. And yes it equals 666 :)
