Living off borrowed time the clock ticks faster
That’ll be the hour they knock the sick blaster
Dick Dastardly and Mutley with sick laughter
A gunfight an’ they come to cut the mix-master
I.C.E. cold
Nice to be old
Y2G stee twice to three fold
He sold scrolls lo and behold
Know who’s the illest ever like the greatest story told
Keep your glory, gold and glitter
For half, half of his niggers would take 'm out the picture
The other half is rich and it don’t mean shit'a
Villain–a mixture between both with a twist of liquor
Chase it with more beer
Tasted like truth or dare
When he get the mic its like the place get like “aaw yeah”
It's like they know what’s ‘bout to happen
Just keep your eye out like “aye aye captain”
Is he still a fly guy clappin’ if nobody aint hearin’
And can they testify from in the spirit
And livin’ the true gods

Givin’ y’all nothing but the lick like two broads
Got more lyrics than the church’s got ooh-lord's
And he hold the mic and get your attention like two swords
Either that or either one with two blades on it
Hey you! Don’t touch the mic like there’s AIDS on it
Yo, it’s like the end to the means
Fuck type of message that sends to the fiends
That’s why he brings his own needles
And get more cheese than Doritos, Cheetos or Fritos.

Slip like Freudian
Your first and last step
To playin’ yourself like an accordian

When he had the mic you don’t go next
Leavin’ pussycats like why hoes need Kotex
Exercise index won’t need Boflex and wont take
The one with no skinny legs like Joe Tex

The whole dang thing makes more sense than you know. ambiguity is not the result of he rushed thinking of a freestyle, but rather the desire to poetic and use conotations and metaphors and shit.

"Living off borrowed time the clock tick faster That'll be the hour they nock the slick blaster"

'Living on Borrowed Time' is a John Lennon song that's about kickin back and not worryin about tomorrow. So, livin off borrowed time is the opposite. The clock's tickin faster. He's not gonna let the hip hop game get ahead of him in his old age. 'That'll be the hour they knock the slick blaster' is like sayin 'That'll be the day I let them make fun of me.' or somethin like that.

"Dick Dasterdly and Mutley with sick laughter. A gunfight and they come to cut the mix master."

Dick Dasterdly and Mutley with sick laughter is refering to Doom and Madlib as villains. The gunfight goes along with that. He's just tying to villain rapper thing together. This song is an introduction to the two villains.

"i.c.e. cold. Nice to be old. Y2G stee. Twice to three fold"

Ice cold means he's a hard ass. Nice to be old means just what it sounds like, cuz dooms an old mo fo for an emcee. Y2G stee means his style is unusual and current for this new century, Y2G or Y2K. Stee means stilo which is Italian for style. Twice to three fold could bean times to or times three. Maybe he's agnowleging that his style is so far out that maybe it's more fit for they year 4000 or the year 6000. Maybe.

"He sold scrolls, lo and behold."

He's makin himself like and old biblical profit. Lo and behold is like Bible language a little.

"Know who's the illest ever like the greatest story told."

is like "the greatest story ever told" which is a biblical movie about Jesus. So that goes along with the last line.

"Keep your glory gold and glitter. For half, half of his niggas would take him out the picture."

He's sayin, I don't want money and fame. To have half of what he has his own friends would kill him to obtain it. That's all I got for now. More later maybe.

Yo this song is dope but I never understood what it meant. Is it just a freestyle or something?

It's pretty much just a freestyle, with some great lines in it.

I'm focused on one specific line "That’s why he brings his own needles And get more cheese than Doritos, Cheetos or Fritos."

Cheese is the street name of a drug mixture that apeared shortly before doom released "madvillany" cheese is made out of watered down Heroin and Benedril witch would explain why he brings his own needles And get more cheese than Doritos, Cheetos or Fritos...

This is just MF DOOM saying how sick his pal Madlib is. When Madlib has the mic, nobody dares to go after him because he's already stolen the show.

I think he's referring to Victor Vaughn after he says "Villain–a mixture between..." I don't see any convincing reference to Madlib, but I could be wrong. Madlib's the best of the best when it comes to beats, but he's actually not that great on the mic anyway.

"Slip like Freudian, your first and last step to playin' yourself like an accordion."

Sigmund Freud believed that dreams and 'Freudian slips' (accidently letting something slip which isn't related to what's going on) reveal something about your innermost desires and repressed thoughts. MF DOOM's telling us to analyse these things; to learn something important about ourselves from them. So you'll be 'playin' yourself like an accordion', which involves a sort of smooth flow in its playing technique. I get the impression the whole song might've been written around this line.

"a mixture between both with a twist of liquor" is referencing the two types of friends he just mentioned, the haves and have-nots (or maybe just evil and careless)

Dreamwalker
Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
