Trolling completed, now some of the comments here aren't very nice, and are flawed in attacking or defending opinions. Opinion are not universal facts, however ad hominem attacks are, as long as a person's back ground in music is justifibly questionable. Joking. John Bonham was 15 years ahead of his time in drumming prowess, the Rolling Stones have had longevity up the wazoo, Led Zeppelin was a very talented band in all areas, The Beatles were the best marketed band ever, period, and I'm still glad that Lynrd Skynrd died with that fateful plane crash.
Moby Dick on Zeppelin II is a different song than Bonzo's Montreaux on Coda. There are other versions that include the two as a medley from live shows or something.
Bonham was the best R'n'R-ish drummer from the 60's-1980's, in terms of being technically demanding and musically artful.
This song is named from Bonham's nickname (Bonzo) and the city it was recorded in (Montreaux).
most of all...lynard skynard sucks, allmans bros = incredible, led zeppelin is superior to even the most positive adjectives.
Well, isn't that kind of obvious?
And I thought Bonzo did the synthesizers as well in this song?
But anyways, shouldn't we be making jokes about how this song's lyrics hold the secrets of life, like on all the other instrumentals?
Anyway Coda was released after Bonham's (Bonzo) death, with Bonzo's Montreux on it after Jimmy Page added electronics to it. I think it's very symbolic of his death, montreux being final resting spot for those who know about Montreux. It's also one of the very few studio albums where you can hear Bonham's drum pedals squeaking. I can't believe I'm the only one commenting today b/c its the anniversary of John Bonham's death in 1980.
