I found myself today
Oh, I found myself and ran away
But something pulled me back
The voice of reason I forgot I had

All I know is you're not here to say
What you always used to say
But it's written in the sky tonight

So I won't give up, no I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
Someone's watching over me

I've seen that ray of light
And it's shining on my destiny
Shining all the time, and I won't be afraid
To follow everywhere it's taking me

All I know is yesterday is gone
And right now I belong
To this moment, to my dreams

So I won't give up, no I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
Someone's watching over me

It doesn't matter what people say
And it doesn't matter how long it takes
Believe in yourself and you'll fly high
And it only matters how true you are
Be true to yourself and follow your heart

So I won't give up, no I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe

So I won't give up, no I won't break down
Sooner than it seems life turns around
And I will be strong even if it all goes wrong
When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe
Someone's watching over me

Someone's watching over
Someone's watching over
Someone's watching over me
Yeah, oh, oh,
Someone's watching over me

    I did cry.

I sang this song at my grade six graduation. Lots of people were crying.. The principal, my MALE teacher. So many people in the audience. I didnt cry on stage, but i did cry.

Hil's voice is pretty clear and not so computer generated sounding in this song. It's just a song that makes you think about how if even someone you loved is no longer around....you know they and everyone else we always be there watching over you.

This is one of my favourite Hilary Duff songs. You rock girlie!

"So I won't give up No I won't break down Sooner than it seems life turns around"

No matter what happens when things are going wrong, You won't give up or break down because sooner than you think, everything will be good again.

"When I'm standing in the dark I'll still believe That someone's watching over Someone's watching over Someone's watching over me

    Someone's watching over me"

Even when you think you're alone, You're alone.. But not. Someone out there that loves you is watching over you and will protect you.

This is one of the songs I heard recently (from the movie "Raise Your Voice"). I didn't hear all the lyrics during the movie -- but read it while listening to the song the second time (incidentally, I am listening to it right now, while writing this), and loved it.

This is also a great 'inspiring' addition to my collection. Everyone feels down one time or the other -- and songs like these lift up your mood!

I first heard this song on the movie Raise Your Voice I think it means that no matter what life gets better sooner than you think and that someone is always watching over you so you don't have to worry about it.

I first heard "Someone's Watching Over Me" on a preview for "Raise Your Voice". I think that this song means just to follow your dreams even if you think everything will go wrong, and even if they do, you should still believe that you can achieve it.

this is such a beautiful song, it's sad, because it's about someone that's died, someone really important to the person that sang it. but it's a really nice song, with a simple tune. this parts really strong to me 'So I won't give up No I won't break down Sooner than it seems life around' it's a song with a great moral, and yeah, hilary duff should be looked up to by young girls.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
