Lyrics for A Walk Through Hell as interpreted by tjwells

A Walk Through Hell Lyrics
1,2,3...

and if i could swim,
i'd swim out to you in the ocean,
swim out to where you were floating,
in the dark,
and if i was blessed,
id walk on the water youre breathin,
to lend you some air for that heavin sunken chest,
cause they chose you as the model for their empty little dreams,
with your new head and your legs spread like a filthy magazine,
and they hunt you and they gut you and you give in,
and if i was brave,
id climb up to you on the mountain,
they led you to drink from their fountain,
spouting lies,
and id slay the horrible beast they commissioned,
to steer me away from my mission to your eyes,
and i'd stand there like a soldier with my foot upon his chest,
with my grin spread and my arms out in my bloodstained sundays best,
and you'd hold me,
i'd remind you,
who you are, under their shelves...

i'd walk through hell for you,
let it burn right through my shoes,
these soles are useless without you,
through hell for you,
let the torturing ensue my soul is useless without you...

and if they send a whirlwind id hug it like a harmless little tree,
or an earthquake,
i'd calm it,
and i'd bring you back to me,
and i'd hold you in my weak arms like a firstborn...

i'd walk through hell for you,
let it burn right through my shoes,
these soles are useless without you,
through hell for you,
let the torturing ensue my soul is useless without you...

Now id walk through hell for you.
Whats an adventurer to do but rest these feet at home with you?

i went to the show and he said it was about his sister being raped and killed... i guess she was thrown in a lake afterward... this would explain the "Id walk on the water your breathing, give you some air for that heaving, sunken chest"... and also to the "Cause they chose you, as a model, for their empty little dreams, with your new head, and your legs spread, like a filthy magazine"

shes not the best person in the world but this guy is in love with her anyway, for who she is and he would do anything

and also... which i forgot... in the beginning, its kind of saying that the person he loves has kind of been effected in a negative way by society, and he wants to protect her from that...right? haha

I think this song is about a girl who can't stand up for herself so she is used, but he still loves her and wants to save her. He wants to show her who she really is behind the mask for her by others.
In the very last verse of the song he says now I'VE walked through hell for you (not 'I'd' again)

I think this is such a sweet and amazing song!

I LOVE this song- it's simple, it's romantic and it feels real. So here are my two cents:

1, 2, 3...

And if I could swim,
I'd swim out to you in the ocean,
Swim out to where you were floating,
In the dark

(If he could, he would do anything to be with her but he feels helpless as he is somehow prevented- in this analogy she is floating out in the dark in the sea but he can’t swim so he can’t reach her even though he is desperate to)

And if I was blessed,
I'd walk on the water you're breathing,
To lend you some air for that heaving, sunken chest

(Again, if only he could walk on water he would do anything to get to her and he’d give up some of himself to help her and save her)

Cause they chose you as the model for their empty little dreams,
With your new hair and your legs spread like a filthy magazine,
And they hunt you and they gut you and you give in

(She has become someone else because of the people she surrounds herself with and their negative influence on her. She has been corrupted by people who don’t really know her let alone care about her. They’ve moulded her into what they want her to be and taken away part of who she really is. This kills the guy who loves her as he can see the effect these people are having on her whilst she is blinded to the truth. These people are living their meaningless, ‘empty little dreams’ through using his girlfriend and he can’t stand it- it’s like she is their prey hence the predatory imagery ‘they hunt you and they gut you’)

And if I was brave,
I'd climb up to you on the mountain,
They led you to drink from their fountain,
Spouting lies

(If he could he would follow her and save her from the lies they are feeding her)

And I'd slay the horrible beast they commissioned,
To steer me away from my mission to your eyes,
And I'd stand there like a soldier with my foot upon his chest,
With my grin spread and my arms out in my bloodstained Sunday’s best,
And you'd hold me,
I'd remind you,
Who you are, under their shell...

(He feels like he is being steered away from her- all he wants is to be with her and look into the eyes of the girl he loves but her new ‘friends’ are taking her away from him. He wants to defeat them and win back her love and he would do anything it takes. He just wants to remind her who she really is because he is the one person who knows her real self under all the false pretences)

I'd walk through hell for you,
Let it burn right through my shoes,
These soles are useless without you,
Through hell for you,
Let the torturing ensue,
My soul is useless without you

(He’d walk through hell for her because without her his life is devoid of meaning and love so he might as well die trying to win her back. He would endure all sorts of suffering because she is a vital missing part of him and he needs her to feel complete)

And if they send a whirlwind I'd hug it like a harmless little tree,
Or an earthquake,
I'd calm it,
And I'd bring you back to me,
And I'd hold you in my weak arms like a firstborn

(He would defeat everything they could throw at him in order to secure her love- he just wants her back and wants their relationship to be like it was before she started being influenced- she is so precious to him, like a firstborn child, and she doesn’t realize how much she is killing him)

I'd walk through hell for you,
Let it burn right through my shoes,
These soles are useless without you,
Through hell for you,
Let the torturing ensue my soul is useless without you

Now I've walked through hell for you.
What's an adventurer to do but rest these feet at home with you?

(Now that he’s endured all this pain for her, he just wants to settle down with her and be comforted and loved by her because that is everything he has ever wanted and everything he has worked so hard for)

This song is special to me because it reminds me of my boyfriend who I don’t get to spend nearly as much time with as I want to because of work/distance. So in the days between when I get to see him I listen to this song and it helps get me through because I know that no matter how hard life is when he’s not around, when I finally get to be with him again it will all be worth it. :)

"cause they chose you as the model for their empty little dreams,
with your new head and your legs spread like a filthy magazine,
and they hunt you and they gut you and you give in,"
she got into a crowd completely wrong for her and is lost

"and id slay the horrible beast they commissioned,
to steer me away from my mission to your eyes,"
he'd defeat (ignore) the things in his head that were keeping him from her

"and you'd hold me,
i'd remind you,
who you are, under their shelves..."
obviously, he'd restore her to her old self.

the chorus is just a ballad explaining the measures he would take for her.

an all around amazing song, not an average love song.

well this is what i think, but i could be completely wrong

"if i could swim,
i'd swim out to you in the ocean,
swim out to where you were floating,
in the dark,
and if i was blessed,
id walk on the water youre breathin,
to lend you some air for that heavin sunken chest,"

(if i thought i could save you from this, then i would, but i probably can't")

"cause they chose you as the model for their empty little dreams, with your new head and your legs spread like a filthy magazine,"

(they chose you as a model for their porn magazines, and it doesn't even look like you)

"they hunt you and they gut you and you give in,"
(most people wont exploit their bodies, but you do)

"and if i was brave,
id climb up to you on the mountain,
they led you to drink from their fountain,
spouting lies,
and id slay the horrible beast they commissioned,
to steer me away from my mission to your eyes,
and i'd stand there like a soldier with my foot upon his chest,
with my grin spread and my arms out in my bloodstained sundays best,
and you'd hold me,
i'd remind you,
who you are, under their shelves..."

(i could imagine saving you from trying to be a porn star, but no matter what i do you probably wont stop for me)

i'd walk through hell for you,
let it burn right through my shoes,
these soles are useless without you,
through hell for you,
let the torturing ensue my soul is useless without you...

( i would do anything for you, i feel completely useless without you)

and if they send a whirlwind id hug it like a harmless little tree,
or an earthquake,
i'd calm it,
and i'd bring you back to me,
and i'd hold you in my weak arms like a firstborn...

(if i could save you, i really would)

Now i walked through hell for you.
Whats an adventurer to do but rest these feet at home with you?
(now that i saved you. what do i do?)

i think this is about a girl with no respect for herself. so she lets guys use her as their "model" and i think its about how he thinks she's so much better then that. and that he'd do anything be with her

You know, I'd like to analyze this song, because it could have a lot of different meanings... but I won't.

The way I perceive this song is just the best love song ever. It makes me feel good when I listen to it.

ive got a theory on this song. You guys noticed how in most songs they mention that theyre jewish, like in touched herself says rabbi and in alive with the glory of love its about nazis, well i reckon a walk through hell is actually about going across no mans land in ww2 then going back home to the one he loves and has missed during the war... i think thats why they talk about swimming oceans cos want to get back from france, and i think her swimming in the dark is about how they couldnt have the lights on during the bombing raids... no idea about the legs part.. i think the horrible beasts are the german soldiers.. and i think the line under their shell is about shell as in steal shell from a bomb in the war... might be completely wrong but its my interpretation..anyone think i might be right? :S song is amazing! nearly as good as alive!

this song is about a girl who is far from perfect,
she has horrible habits, and is pretty much
influenced by the people around her.
the girl is kind of a weak person, [mentally]
and the guy loves her so much he wouldn't
leave her just because of these habits.
but he wants to help her get through it er stop.
and hed do anything to help her stop,
because he doesnt want to leave her,
becausehe loves her so much and
without her his life would be pretty much pointless.
&nd towards the end of the song, he achieved his
goal and hes pretty much
1] proud of what he's done
2] noticed he went through hell to help the girl,
so he just wants to settle down and be with her now.

oh and it in fact is
"and you'd hold me,
i'd remind you,
who you are, under their shells."
NOT shelves

and

"Now iv walk through hell for you.
Whats an adventurer to do but rest these feet at home with you"
NOT now id walk through hell for you.

i kind of go back and forth on what this song could be about. sometimes i think it's about a guy who loves a girl more than anything in the world and would do anything for her,and sometimes it actually makes me think of God.
some of the lines in the song could relate so well to how God feels about us. for example...

"and if i could swim,
i'd swim out to you in the ocean,
swim out to where you were floating,
in the dark,
and if i was blessed,
id walk on the water youre breathin,
to lend you some air for that heavin sunken chest"

(could be about how someone has fallen away from their faith, and God is going out to save them and bring them back into faith. the lines about walking on water especially create imaery of jesus, and the line about lendin air to your sunken chest could be about giving new or eternal life)

"and id slay the horrible beast they commissioned,
to steer me away from my mission to your eyes,
and i'd stand there like a soldier with my foot upon his chest,
with my grin spread and my arms out in my bloodstained sundays best,
and you'd hold me,
i'd remind you,
who you are, under their shells..."

(God fought Satan and sin to save our souls, and He did it because He loves us. the line about his 'sunday's best' also made me think of church lol. He would take us out of the path of sin and remind us that we are all His children.)

"i'd walk through hell for you,
let it burn right through my shoes,
these soles are useless without you,
through hell for you,
let the torturing ensue my soul is useless without you..."

(of course, Jesus actually did walk through hell for us when He died on the cross, and He felt that it was completely worth it because of His love for us. although, i have to admit, the line 'my soul is useless without you' applies more to us talking about God than God talking about us...thats what always throws me off.)

"and if they send a whirlwind id hug it like a harmless little tree,
or an earthquake,
i'd calm it,
and i'd bring you back to me,
and i'd hold you in my weak arms like a firstborn..."

(this brings up imagery of Jesus when he calmed the raging storm at sea. and, of course, imagery of us being God's children with the line about the firstborn.)

"Now id walk through hell for you.
Whats an adventurer to do but rest these feet at home with you?"

(now He has brought us back into faith and on the pathway to paradise, so all He has left to do now is spend the rest of eternity with us.)

this is just my take. i am pretty catholic, so this kinda popped into my head as i was hearing it haha
