I was crying over you
I am smiling I think of you
Where your garden have no walls
Breathe in the air if you care, you compare, don't say farewell

Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and swear that your love's for me
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and swear that your love's for me

I was crying over you
I am smiling I think of you
Misty morning and water falls
Breathe in the air if you care, you compare, don't say farewell

Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and swear your love's for me
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and swear your love's for me
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and swear your love's for me

Virtuous sensibility
Escape velocity
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and swear your love's for me
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and swear your love's for me
Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and swear your love's for me
Breathe in the air if you care, you compare, don't say farewell
Nothing

    Song Meaning:"Nothing can compare
To when you roll the dice and swear your love's for me"

Means nothing would compare for this moment if his significant other or person he adores would just TAKE A CHANCE with him! Also to just let go and give it a try??

General Comment:I'm actually not so sure about the whole take a chance and tell them you love them. I think the song is painfully ironic, and I think OC misused it. Love is something that you should be sure about, not something involving 'the throw of a a dice': it should be something you are certain of and shouldn't require any outside force to cement it. I think the song is saying that it is blissful when someone swears your love to you, but if it is from the result of recklessly 'throwing a dice' then it is ironic because it probably isn't true love anyway. but whatever, that's my opinion

General Comment:FIRSTLY, laugh out loud at 'Brian'. Second matter, the song itself. Great song, love it. Magic moment on the all time OC music moments, don't lie guys, you know you have watched it a few times on youtube. OH The OC, forever young (yes yes, I meant that)

General Comment:The background singing by the girl is beautiful, and also the way that the song almost seems to slow down the time. It really puts the listener into that atmosphere, like you are about to tell that person that you love them and you are just waiting...

    It is great

General Comment:I think that this song is about taking risks for love and how if those risks turn out in your favor then there is nothing like that accomplished feeling " nothing can compare to when you roll the dice and swear your loves for me"

General Comment:I agree with Zelane about this song being about losing someone you love, but have a slightly different interpretation of the meaning of the dice...I almost think it could be about the past with the person that was lost, to the time when they were actually together and she hadn't been lost yet. another explanation could be that the dice rolling is hypothetical/optimistic/wishful thinking...looking back on a situation and idealizing it to the point of, "I've lost you, but nothing would compare to you coming back to me, taking the chance and saying you love me" I dunno, maybe it's a stretch and maybe that interpretation stems from my own situation.

General Comment:Lol i hate you all please don't just say i love this song, i love the oc. DISSCUSS THE SONG MEANING :). Rant over.

I suppose i have to agree with the others and say the writer probably intended it to be about taking the gamble to tell someone how you feel. But it fits so beautifully to mean what i first took it to mean, so let me throw in this curve ball....

The song (at least to me) is about losing the one you love, so "I was crying over you" is the grieving" and "i am smiling, i think of you. Where your gardens have no walls" is the peace of mind they get from thinking of there loved one in a better place, where they are happy and free (no walls). And "breath in the air, if you care, you compaire, dont say farewell" is the writers advice to other/himself to just stop and realise that there still with them.

Then to be really interesting "When you roll the dice and swear your love for me". My first thought when i had this theme in my head was of the fortune teller type thing of asking a question and using dice to give an answer (with the belief that the dead can manipulate the roll) so on asking the question, they got an answer that can put them at peace. Which nothing can compaire to.

The line "Virtuous sensibility, escape velocity" says to me how there good life means in death the can find peace, escape the velocity of every day life.

General Comment:This song is awesome, i never watched the O.C. though, this song is saying love is a gamble, and for someone to take a gamble on your love, nothing can compare. It's painful when they don't, thats why he was crying cause the girl kept her guard up. He smiles thinking of her in a beautiful place where there are no wall, where her guard is down. Where everything is fragile and he is there cause she took the risk, the gamble on his love. He is saying don't say farewell and keep your guard up and forget about love but to take the gamble on love.
